J-Settes, What Happened To The Eight Count?

I was watching J-Settes tapes from 1988 & 1989, I noticed something before each J-Settes performance that is not there today, It's an eight count by one of the drummers before the J-Settes began there performance. Don't think eight seconds would adversely affect the five minute halftime limit. What happened to the eight count? Did it end during the Liddell era?

I think you are referring to the 8 drum taps counting off the next song. They were in other places in the show usually too. The were eliminated, along with almost all of any marking time due to time constraints. When I got their in '94 we would mark time 8 or 16 counts after every formation and tap off any new transition. By the time I left all that was out. Time constraints eliminated all "dead space". When you're trying to fit as much as you can in a tight time frame, any unnecessary space gets dropped.

It eloped with the 5 drum taps after every song. Find the 5 taps...and you'll find the 8 count.

I knew it was a while ago, but I knew memory wasn't that bad...... :lol:

He was my Crab Brother, plus he dated my Soror from my section...:tup:

Kerry and Chan Leggette would sometime team up and write an arrangement. Kerry was cool....:)
