It's friday.............A NON SWAC/HBCU Conference question.

War & Thunder
The ACC is finding out what the SEC has had to deal with forever.
Dealing with ranked teams killing each other off week after week.
Miami now competing directly with Florida St for Athelete's going to the ACC...etc.

The ACC and SEC recruiting and playing within the same regions.
How long will it take the ACC to catch up to the SEC in these areas.
Like them or not..........The SEC put's half the conference in the top 10 every year even after "killing" each other off.

How long do ya'll think it will take the ACC to become a true SUPER CONFERENCE year in and year out with 5 or 6 teams constantly ranked in the top 15 like the SEC?

ACC in a slump already.

Again................... know it's "them"............So don't start with who cares.
I'm just talking football on a Friday afternoon.:dizzy:

Miami is stuggling for now! They'll be back! The problem with the Canes is they got too cocky over the years in the recruiting order. Hopefully, the past 2 years have straighten them out on being cocky. The Louisville team who beat them were their recruits which they decided were not worth their time. My buddy whose an Agent stated Miami rarley look at the tapes they receive from recruits. There name alone useta speak for itself! They rarely court bluechippers! Vince Young wanted to attend Miami and would have been a Cane had they showed him the love TX did:shame:

And that's what I fugure Miami and Florida St's problem is.

You can't just go to Florida State and Miami and expect to cake walk to a National Championship......or even an ACC Championship anymore.
Kids will look at other ACC schools simply because they are going to get a chance to BEAT these 2 teams on a yearly basis and build their school and reputations up on Miami's and Florida States back.

Now highschoolers that would not consider a SEC team because of the Hard Road to the Championship will have to look at the ACC the same way.

They gonna have to start "working" at getting these players to come now.

Both FSU and Miami need to go in another direction coaching-wise.

Simply put, Bowden has gotten old on the job. People really aren't afraid of FSU anymore. The mystique is gone.

Coker sucks, period. I told folks 4 years ago when he was still fielding Davis' juggernaut team that the bottom was gonna slowly fall out.... and it has. Larry Coker IS Robert Hughes. I'll bet anything he won't get head coaching consideration anywhere once Miami fires him.

Now why you gotta call out Mr. Giggles like that.

You right about Florida St.
It's time for new ideas and schemes at the top.

It comes and goes in cycles. The FSU's, Miami's, UGA's, USC's all have their chance to shine at some point. They wont fall off for long.

YEP......................FSU and Miami will be back individually.

But as a conference, do you ever see the ACC overtaking the SEC as a dominant conference every year?

Personally, I just can't see Virginia Tech ever competing in the SEC on a yearly basis and succeding even though they have been one of the top 3 in the ACC every year.

I would say they would be 1 notch above Ole Miss after a few years of getting cracked on a weekly basis...............middle of the pack all the time.
Don't think they could ever reach the status of a Florida, LSU, Auburn, Bamma, Georgia, or Tennessee on a yearly basis in the SEC.

You guys are kidding right?

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbc05.htm

This is a new league that is only a FEW MONTHS removed from being the SECOND highest rated conference in the nation. The SEC was waaay behind in points.

This writer did his job. He started a BS article that got your attention. Has it occured to any of you that Clemson, etc...just might be good.

The season is young. Let's see what's what after the national championship game.

Not going on what he say's word for word.

But you have to admit that the ACC is going to have to lean how to weather their own storm like the SEC.

No team that basically used to stand alone...........Miami, Florida state.......is stacked like they used to be.

It's a whole new ball game for them.

If they were in seperate conferences, do you honestly think Florida State and Miami would have scheduled each other the 1st game of the season?
It's that kind of stuff that will catch up with them now and they will have to live with it.

Remember the saying................ANY TEAM THAT GO THROUGH THE SEC UNDEFEATED IN ANY YEAR DISERVES A SHOT AT THE N.C.

The whole weak/strong conference debate has always been irrelevant in my opinion. USC comes from a so-called weak conference, but it hasn't stopped them from kicking azz coast to coast.

Try telling that to Auburn 2004.

True....................For 1 or 2 games a year, then it's off to the LACK 10.
Look at what a "down" Tennessee team did to a Cal team that was ranked 12 spot's better than them at #12.

Put USC in the SEC, BIG 10 or BIG 12.

Bet they would lose more than 1 game in 3 years.

I knew Miami was going to go down hill. I never felt like they ever had formidable schedules in the past. It is easy to get up for only 3 games are less a year. In Miami's hay day, I don't think that they would have been national champions if having to play an SEC schedule..............My Opinion

I can't say whether they would or wouldn't. But they would definately be the class of those conferences. Right now the SEC has 4 good teams, Florida, LSU, Auburn and Georgia. Out of those only Florida and maybe LSU could hang with USC. The reason is coaching.

I said DISERVES..................And you saw all the up-roar it caused when they didn't get that shot.

Yeah there was uproar, but they were tit for tat with Oklahoma and they definately didn't deserve the nod over USC. They were very lucky they got to avoid USC.

This is true. For instance it was not too long ago that USC was 5-6. Do Georgia fans remember the Ray Goff years or the last few years of the Dooley era. While LSU won SEC championships during the '80s and '90s, they had some losing seasons too. Alabama does not scare people like they used to do.

Things go in cycles.

And strong conference or not USC has kicked Auburns ass the last two times theyve played. And one school on the same level as you should not put 70 and 50 points on you regardless. Also GT may be shaky but they have Auburns number too. What good is a strong conference if it keeps you out of the big game other than being able to say you have the strongest conference?

Bowden will still make a BCS Bowl game this year. These teams that we are talking about get the best, of the best. They can't win 'em all every year. They will bounce back. THere is really no dominant team in college football this year, at this point in time. No team will go undefeated this year. Who ever the champ is they will at least have one loss. By the way, where is Hughes now?

Miami is finished. Cleaning up that program ended it. When the team was full of criminals and outlaws, it was one of the best.

They started going downhill when they lost to that hapless Ohio State team several years ago.

Next year, they will not win 6 games unless they start playing 1AA and MEAC schools.

I agree. Coker has cleaned up the program. This is why Miami is not winning.

Actually Butch Davis cleaned up the program AND stocked it with NFL talent. Coker is losing because he sucks as a coach.
