It is official - 63 Full Rides at PV

Blu Panther

The name says it all
Our "Young" AD and the interim president incresed the funding and bam, we get 63 full rides starting next year in football.

Will have modest expectations next year, realistic expectations in 2004 and SWAC Title implications in 2005. WE're back. This is going to be easy when it comes to recruiting against wimps like TSU - who has failed to widen the gap during our lean years.

New motto: The Funds are Back

Long time coming. I am sure PV alums I know are estatic. Props to your AD and President for taking the charge and move forward. This is a win - win for the school and the SWAC.

BP,
See how I can give your school props despite your negative comments you always have for SU.:D

Kudos to P.V...................This will be great for the " Other Jaguars aka Panthers" and cant do anything but eventually raise the conference power ratings!!!

LOL@Bean. But you may actually be on to something. Not that Cole is going to PV. But I do imagine now that PV will have full scholarships that Dorsey will be under pressure to win in 2004 or 2005. So that will not be an excuse any more. Coaching at PV will become alot more stressful and their alumni will expect more than 1 - 3 wins to satisfy them. Also now that coaching job just became more attractive to other coaches. So the landscape will change for as that job is concerned. It is good news for Dorsey today, but could be bad news for him if he can't win even after getting these scholarships. As Jafus would say...........interesting.

Congrats to Prairie View. I am sincerely happy to see this happening.

Please, save the Bill Thomas smack for over ----------->

ooooooooooh, I can't believe this. This is really good for the program. Now, if they could only find some way to come up with a band travel budget, PV might be a school that attracts a lot of attention.

Blu Panther,

This is good news (and I am not saying this to be funny becasue I have said the same thing to some other schools) but it takes more than scholarship money to produce a champion. If you look at any BCF conference, you see the teams with consistent success over the years continuing to win. Look at how Notre Dame turned things around suddenly. Name recognition plays a big role in getting players and TRADITION motivates players to play. Observe the situation at Alcorn. On the other hand, look at what AAMU did. Alabama State did the same thing and had a BIG BANG at first. Hampton and UAPB came on strong when they first moved up BUT how do you sustain that momentum when you don't turn a contender into a champion? If you all start to put it in those recruits heads that they have to win by 2005, that will destroy the program and the mentality of those behind them if they don't do it. Before the season began in 2001, AAMU was predicted to beat up on a lot of SWAC teams and possibly win the title but at the beginnig of 2002, they were the laughing stock all over again.

Regardless, this is great news and hopefully PV will work to BUILD a program. Again, this is not a put down but I would hope that your adminstration would not create a bunch of Mike's and Ntelect's. I can understand Mighty Dogs motivation. He wants to live to see a title but you are still young man. LOL

That is true. It takes more than money to win, and you can put too much pressure on players with super-high expectations.

Worse yet, if were to create alot of ignorant, mindless imps who post stupidity with every opportunity regardless of the subject. Folks like Tarzan here!

Tarzan, you get sadder by the minute, and since there are only 60 minutes in each hour.......:smh:
