It has been a pleasure

Why am I leaving, in the words of the Apostle Paul as he was instructed by the Holy Spirit

But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium ? Acts 13:51

Then Jesus said in Matthew 10:14

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

It has been a pleasure discussing the word of God with you, I hope that I have said something that has saved some and God forbid condemned others. However, please do not take the following comments personally, because I am speaking from my heard with sadness, to realize how smart some are and at the same time, be void of God's word. I must say that it is a sin and shame before the Holy and Righteous God for some to be so ignorant in His word. Why is it so hard to accept God at his word "it called faith"

He has blessed ?mankind? with the ability and knowledge to receive an education in some of the most difficult fields and yet we remain ignorant in his word. The ability to read reason and comprehend but we remain ignorant concerning His word. If a person can solve a problem in Organic Chemestry or Physics, then he [generic] should be able to understand the word of God. Paul told Timothy, that he [Timothy] was able to understand from his youth, meaning you were able to understand the word as a child. Yet, some as adults cannot understand, when the bible is written on a six grade level.

It is by the obedience of the gospel, not the Old Testament that we are going to be saved or condemned

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:37

How can some have the nerves to question God and how He set in order the things he wants and how it is to be carried out. Some call themselves Christians, but question the word of God as if they know more than God. Yes, we have our own opinions, but at the same time we do not, because God has already given us his a pattern on how to carry out his worship services. To think that it is ok to do certain things in the church because ?we think that it is ok or because David did it?s ok, it looks and sound good, because another church is doing it? that is an insult to the cross and ever thing that it symbolizes.

Who is your standard of worship Christ or David?

This is what the NT says about the OT

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4

That?s for our learning to keep us from falling into the same temptations and practices as those of the OT. It did not say for our practices.

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster Gal. 3:24,25

The OT is used to teach us things that we should not do.

The OT was a Covenant between God and Israel, not with Christians. Read Hebrews Chapters 8 and nine about the covenants.

There are things that are ?Morally Right But Religiously Wrong? and we need to know how to separate the two, Listen, you cannot us the OT as your standard of worship or compromise the purity of the gospel of Christ, with your own preconceived ideas, wives tales, practices and philosophies. How do you determine the difference, use the NT as he standard. Using David and Proverbs he knew what was right and wrong [Prov. 16:25]

What we may think is right, may not be right {Jer. 10:23}. ?Prove all things; hold fast that which is good? 1 Thess 5:21 ? meaning that we must search the scriptures and prove that what we teach, preach and practice is in harmony with the same.

If you are using David / OT standards as you order of worship, then where are your sacrifices, burnt offerings, burning incense, piece offerings and the sprinkling of blood?

The word 'judging' carries too much weight when it fact, if it is written in the Word, it is not that at all. :read:

Don't let anyone discourage you from teaching the TRUTH!!

Dr. H,

As long as you are teaching what thus says the Lord, you are doing what you are suppose to do.

I'm sure some are blessed with your teachings, I know I am, so please keep posting on this board.....please...:D

Yeah what she said!!!!!

It's your calling so stay with it!!!!!

H,

I love you and appreciate your insight on the scripture. I won't argue with you on a directive from God to leave the forum. Whatever He says to you, by all means do that. However, please do so on his direction and not out of your own frustration. This is an admonition and not a rebuke.

I do understand that your theological perspectives are NT-based. I have no problem with that and I applaud you. The epistle to the Hebrews is one of the greatest works of the NT. It depicts the superiority of Christ's priesthood to the priesthood of Aaron; it qualifies Him after the order of Melchisidec. It shows us the faith of those who died looking for the Promise and then tells us of the life, death, and resurrection of the Promise.

Remember these words of Jesus:
Matt 5:14-18 (KJV)

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The early chapters of Hebrews tell us of God becoming personal rather than national, historical, or traditional. Herein lies the personification of the superiority of Christ and the gospel to the law. A little further talks of His sacrifice and purposefulness in coming. Chapters 8 & 9 remind us that there was grace in the OT but greater access to grace in the NT. Interspersed are warnings about apostasy and falling away. Chapters 10 - 12 tell us about those who died looking for Christ and about Christ coming to live with the purpose of dying that we might live; superior. The writer closes the book telling us how to live with each other until He comes again.

Read the end of the book. Know that you are no casting your pearls before swine. Then, I adjure you by the mercies of God to come on back and get in this fight to bring light into the darkness.

Your brother.

PREACH!!!

I will CONTINUE to be a witness, because one day, an unbeliever will BELIEVE!

Come on back Dr. H. You were truly an instrument for the Lord!

Thanks a million for the complements and encouragement.

?please do so on his direction and not out of your own frustration . You have a point. Similar to the Apostle Paul we all have a thorn in the flesh (2 Cor. 12:7) and I believe ?frustration? happen to be my thorn. God has blessed me with a love and understanding of His word and it frustrates me when I understand and others do not since his word was written on an elementary school level. So I guess ?Satan? uses the demon of frustration ?to buffet me.? So every now and then I have to step back, regroup and refocus.

I am also preparing a study on Acts 2:37, 38

I believe that in most situations, we have to try to meet people at their level of understanding and work from that point. Although it could be argued and perhaps substantiated that the bible was written on a sixth-grade level, but if the teaching, exposure, and understanding hasn't gotten past the third grade level, it is necessary to find ways to continue to repititiously explain until the the awareness is apparent.

For example, I am now working with a group of 9th grade ESL students to prepare them for the high school TAKS test. One of their sample reading passages from the Lord of the Flies states "He stood now, warped out of the perpendicular by the fierce light of publicity..." For many 9th graders, the assumption is that most would comprehend the meaning of sentence, but for someone who has been in the country three years or less would more than likely need additional coaching to get their comprehension to that level.

From a Christian standpoint, I can see that Jesus was faced with many situations that those he preached to, taught, ministered, etc., were from many different levels of understanding, but through it all, His compassion, patience, and focus left us with a pattern to follow until He returns again.

Dr. H,

Now you know there is only a hand full of our kind in the world and on the net because we are not particularly popular. I thought it was rather interesting to see another brother on the net. You are part of the reason why I decided to come back to the Church.

Do what you got to do though.

Dr. H,

I really hate to see you leave Doc. I don't post on the prayer board often, but I do read a lot of posts in here. I must say I have gained a lot of insight from your posts. I respect you as a Man of God and your ability to bring clarity to things that are discussed from the Word of God. Even though I may not agree and believe differently on a number of things that are discussed, your posts have always sparked a desire in me to study and "dig deeper" into the word of God. You being here on the prayer board was not by chance or accident. I respect your decision if you choose to leave though. God Bless.
