Is Gabby Douglas talking too much?

What I Live By...
During her interview with Oprah she revealed that the she experienced a lot of racism at the Virginia gym she trained in before moving to Iowa. She revealed specific incidents such as beign called a "slave" and now she revealed in a separate interview with Vanity Fair it was suggested to her to get a nose job b/c it was too flat.

Of course the owners of the gym (and I think some of the students) fired back saying she's lying.

So now the media has picked up on it...

Is it necessary? On one hand I understand she's basically sharing the struggles she has gone through to get to the top and unfortunately, dealing with racism has been one of those struggles. But is she talking too much? Is it taking away from her accomplishments or she good?

Here are links to what I mentioned above...

Her mother needs to teach her the game. Now we see why daddy left, she is probably just like her momma..............

She should have a public relations consultant who would have assisted her in answering the questions.

I don't think she is talking too much. I saw the Oprah interview and thought it was good, frank and non-pretentious. Lastly, hopefully she is getting payed and cashing in on these interviews and speaking engagements.

I think more Black folks need to speak up about what they had to endure while trying to accomplish something. We are too damn silent by the wrong doings of others. I'm sure a lot Black folks in this country have encountered some ftype of blatant racism. You can't tell me that Colin Powell didn't experience some form of racism when Dick Chaney decided to run things when Bush was in the White House.

the truth is the truth no matter when its told. So if this is her truth, she has a right to speak it. Now, it may cost her something but that's her choice. And yes, she needs a PR person.

Maybe she's just got tired of patronizing white folks who she felt were treating her like a pet squirrel. Maybe she could have gotten tired of holding it in or playing the role. How often have you heard white folks say in all honesty "We had no idea you felt that way". She's paid her dues.

Probably so...hell black folks put her down after she won....that's what bothers me.

I'm glad the Olympics are over. I'll just say that. way too many folk took twitter comments from a few random people and proceeded to just make mountain of a mole hill.
