Southern Miss fans tell IOWA to KISS YO AZZ. These logos are way to different. There is no resemblance at all. Please this is ridiculous.

Waaayyy too different... from the eyes to the entire design!!!

This sort of reminds me of the U of Wyoming vs. McNeese State U logo lawsuit. Now those two were just alike and U W won.

Now McNeese's logo has the horse with the front two legs up, vs the horse bucking like Wyomings.

I thought it was going to be like when Auburn approached UAPB 7 years ago. At that time our logo was Auburn's logo. We had it for 11 years.

Iowa had no problem with this until USM hired the former Iowa State head B-Ball coach.

Don't look the same to me either.

Just not to waste time, if they have not spent too much on it, USM should just do their logo with a GOLD background, Black Eagle, and point it to the left. That ought to shut them up.

Hey, the McNeese logo was WAYYYY different. It had an M on the horse.....

I actually think it was the state of Wyoming and not the University.....but I could be wrong.....

There's a pretty good chance when SU visits LC next year that the old logo will STILL be on the back side of the press box. It was supposed to be changed by last year I believe.

There is no way that those two can be considered alike........and even if they were, can a school copywrite, trademark or be granted sole use of the likeness of any animal as a mascot? If this were the case, I think the NFL or NBA would have been on both the plantiff and defendant side of this issue.

Native Americans or any other groups suing to have their names or likeness of them removed from any association with schools or sports teams would be a different situation all together.

Sour Grapes might be involved here.

Yes, TN State has a trademark on its logo - TX Southern, stole the old TSU Logo. We had to get in MTSU azz for making theirs look to much like ours.

I think UT [Texas] sued UT [Knoxville] of violating the UT Logo and color.

Sour grapes ............... you may be right.

Didn't USM hire Iowa's ex-basketball coach?

Yeah........and I think USM might have hired someone formally associated with the Iowa football program???

It's a wonder Georgia and Grambling have never fell out like this....shrug.

I've always wondered about that, but I think they both would need to contend with Green Bay.

I believe that Grambling has the permission of the Packers to use that logo. I can't speak for Georgia.
