Tell me why the hell everyone says that someone who plays a flute or clarinet in band that is a guy has to be gay?? that shat is messed up...im just wondering cuz i played piccolo in grambling band...and :angry: ....people just talked mad shat about me even though no one in grambling and could even compare to my playing whats up with that shat??? :splat:
 



The "gender" of an instrument is bull isht. Some of the coldest flute players I've seen were heterosexual males. Some of our HBCUs have had females as section leaders in tubas and percussion.

If you can do the job and do it well, then do it.
 
Agreed!!!! From my years of observation,....most male flute and clarinet players take the instrument more seriously instead of just sucking on it. I get more of an aggressive approach,... bringing out the true color of the instrument. I even played the flute, clarinet and oboe. You guys have my respect. You know that you are a man and don't have insecurities with your sexuality,...right? That's all that should matter. I'm sure that flutist playing for Badu could care less about that type of stereo typing while he's making all that money filling a rare position. :nod:

Keep playing your flute dude. And if/when you turn professional, tell SUTuba to blow it outta his backside! You'll be getting paid and he'll still be dreaming of when he was in the band.

How many professional tuba CD's are out there? :lol:

Because sometime people just need to hear that someone is on their side and agrees with them.

I can guarantee that some of these posts made him feel more secure with the instrument he chose.

Listen bruh don't get on here talking all this mumbo jumbo man we have a few weeks untill we report. You were a crab last year, and acted very feminine, it didn't have anything to do with your instrument it was how you acted. Most musician don't look at the instrument they look at the people and how the carry themselves. After we did that then we made our statement. This is not how we need to start this up incoming season with people from the "World Famed" coming out and crying on the SWAC PAGE. We have A LOT of incoming freshmen coming in, so I suggest that you get your act together and prepare for this up incoming season to take the SWAC by storm.

Wait a minute, after reading this thread again, I think I can contribute...,

Anybody rember Herbie Mann or even Hurbie Laws (either the father or brother of Saxophonist Ronnie Laws)? Those brothers are legend Jazz flute players. I don't think any fan of theirs question their sexual preference. If you can play the flute or piccolo or whatever, do your thang.....,

Do you have the right person? How could he be a crab in this band last year and I read somewhere else on this board that he has a band in Calif???

Say Upper Crab don't nobody give a fugg what you play. What you have to remember is that you were a CRAB so you should have expected that. Also the way you use to carry yourself made you seem as if you were a little feminine. Don't take it personal yadig it was just the way things went.
 
alright first off its like this yeah i act feminine...so....i wasnt even talking about that...i was asking why is it assumed that if u play those intruments u r less of a man....Just because i was once a part of the Grambling state university band...does not give u the right to come on here and try to bash me...dont come on here calling me BRUH if u aint in my frat either...it was a simple question that just required an opinion...stop being ignorant...you are supposed...SUPPOSED to be representing a band that USED to be known as one of the best and by talking to people the way you do, you wonder why you get no respect...now you can go and take this post and print it out and go take it down to the basement and give it to doc to he can read it front the band so they can laugh but yall making an arse out of yall selves...i never understood why people hated grambling so much..but no i do...you act like yall just the toughest baddest stuff that walked the earth...the best band in all the land...NOT!!...man i went to gram..played in the band...and i thought SU was better than us...people couldnt march...people never had music memorized...yall are resting on others shoulders...you aren't world famed anymore..you are just Grambling Tiger Band...the only Great musicians that u have are the ones that don't want to be in your band...don't try to talk mess about me cuz even when i was at grambling i tried my hardest to respect people..but u have to give respect to get it..and even though i was a crab...no one could out do me at what i did...so yeah now i have my own marching band to teach...im going to college in my home state and town...a better school...may not be an HBCU..and ima miss my BRUHS and the lovely ladies of SAI...but ill see yall at the classic and i hope SOUTHERN blows a MUD HOLE IN THAT ARSE!!! Walking around like yall sh%^ don't stink...all the people in your band wont matter...cuz the bigger grambling band gets the bigger the other bands will get..and the louder Southern will play...I LOVE GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY...BUT I HATE THE BAND!!!!

Okay,..... BruhDaycarePMA,....I've done my research and I know exactly who you are. I saw you on recital playing a piece on Flute. Good tone and outstanding vibrato.

For the record: :lecture: I will turn a blind eye to your statement and say that The Grambling Band is not for everyone. Yes,...I know all the real musicians in this dept. You have a lot of talent and knowledge in regards to music but, you have a great deal to learn with regards to wisdom. Wisdom is knowing how to respectfully use the knowledge you have. At any rate I wish you well in your new venture.
