First National Awards Ceremony Recognizing HBCU Achievements-The Center for HBCU Media Advocacy, Inc has announced the finalists for the inaugural 2011 HBCU Awards to be held on March 18, 2011 at the North Carolina A&T State University Alumni Event Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. Crowning winners in the fields of leadership, arts, athletics, research, and community engagement, the HBCU Awards is the first and only event to recognize the influence and impact of HBCUs on American culture.

A three-month nomination process received more than 1,000 entries submitted by administrators, students, alumni, faculty and supporters of HBCUs throughout the country. Finalists were selected by Center leadership, and winners will be named by a panel of HBCU students, alumni and administrators. Winners will be announced on the evening of the ceremony.

The Blue and White Flash is the official student newspaper of Jackson State University. When I was on the yard we were great. We have a great staff -- many have gone on to work at various newspapers, radio and television stations.

My cousin was a mass communications professor up there a few years ago. She said the paper was in dire straits recently. The students seemed a little apathetic about the whole print media thing, though.

I mean, we used to be nominated for a win a ton of national and state awards.

It's sad to see that we aren't what we used to be.
 
Howard and Hampton on the academic programming is a gimmee. lol Not even close. :emlaugh:
