I'm glad to read about my Historically Black High School Continue domination in bball

THE NEW AMERICA'S TEAM
Even in a down or rebuilding year, Peabody High School in Alexandria, LA is on the verge of their 16th straight district title in basketball and Coach Smith is one game from 700. I wish the football team could do the same.

It's funny reading some of the comments by bloggers at the end of the article. And the Bruhz from Grambling, the photo in the article shows someone seating in the crowd sporting Alexandria Senior High School colors.

Yup, them Warhorses are doing it again.

According to maxpreps, they are #2 in the state overall (all classes, not just 4a)

Congrads to Coach Smith for keeping a tradition going, and doing it the right way.

Looks like ASH is starting a rivalry that is similar to the one with Pineville in the 70's, which was the Tudor brothers (John and Bobby) versus Paul, Nap, and Russell.

Ain't nothing like that rivalry back then. Them Tudor boys was something. Esp. that damn Bobby Tudor. He could hit 30 foot Jumpers like they were free throws. If they would have had a 3 point line then, it would have been sick. John played for LSU in College.

I graduated with Paul, Nap, and Russell in 79. I went to school with Nap since the 3rd grade.

Congratulation Coach Smith for winning 700. It was just 3 years ago you crossed the 600 mark.

The third best team in Huntsville came to to Alexandria and broke Peabodys long home court record during their Holiday tournament.

yup, we had a real young team this year and it took them a while to get it together. It would be a different story if they played today. But I give them credit for beating us. it is the first game we ever lost in our gym, the Emerald Palace. We are ~96-1 there now

Peabody won the earlier game, Lee won the second game.

They only played one game against each other. Like I said Lee is the third best team in HSV and there are only 7 high schools here.

Leflore would DEMOLISH Peabody. Leflore is easily 25 points better than any team in this state and are ranked in the top 7 in the nation. Lee went down to Mobile to play Leflore and Cousins (the #2 player in the nation) had a field day and ended up with a triple double.

You might be right, because I got it off a well known Louisiana High Sport website, which could be wrong. I'm like Lewis, this team is playing much better then it was at the beginning of the season, because they lost to Washington-Marion in the beginning of the season, but revenge that lost later in the season at Washington-Marion. This is a very young team with one senior and a freshman playing center. Their star player is a junior with majority of team being freshmen and sophomores. Peabody will definitely be a team to content with for the next 3 years. They were not picked to win their district this year.

Also, one of Peabody's former players is now coaching at Grant High School and he has turned that program completely around. Grant's record this year is 22-5, which is unheard of for that school.
