I'm glad I was born in the South. We tried to tell Urban Blacks but they did hear us

BRAVEHEART123

The Clown Prince of Crime
I'm glad I was born in the South. I actually experienced racism hand first growing up. From the High School Homecoming Queen being noticbly white a majority of the time to black students being screwed out valedictorian and salutatorian honors (going so far as to change the weight of certain courses to give the edge to other students), racism is nothing new to me.

What makes me a bit more upset with the Ferguson situation is that oftentimes, we as Southern Blacks have tried to tell these "high maintenance" urban blacks FOR YEARS that racism was not dead. We tried to tell them if it was not contained it would spread to the upper Northern Cities. But we were considered Bamas, Hicks, Blacks who know nothing, etc. It's a weird feeling for me. Every time I see this happen in Northern cities, I feel sympathy for the families but at the same time, I feel this emptiness inside because Southern Blacks have been trying to tell these urban blacks FOR YEARS this was still happening.

One event that I found particularly upsetting was an appointment in a DC Barbershop after the night Obama won re-election. This black guy with an NY accent walks in and celebrates like the rest of us were. However, he said something that made me internally angry. He said that Obama did not need the votes of the Southern States to win the election because those states don't matter. If only this idiot had the taken the time to do his research and realized that the districts were the victims of gerrymandering and that Mississippi is a majority African-American. Those states do matter because African-Americans are not fairly having their voices heard.

Being from the South I feel gives me an edge.

One good thing about the South you will have a hard time finding a town that's 75 percent black with whites running everything.

I doubt that very seriously.

But unless either of us are going to pull the demographics on every town in the south (and I'm not)...we'll agree to disagree.

Y'all act like all y'all living right in the south. Sit-chall asses down somewhere.

With Blacks in parts of the South living like they are still in the 1800's with education levels in the 1800s.

Please don't start a south vs. north discussion. It's such a dumb ass ignorant discussion and DISTRACTION!

 :shame:

Re: I'm glad I was born in the South. We tried to tell Urban Blacks but they did hea

BH is right about people from the north being Naive about racism. Some folks were really shocked about the Ferguson situation.

It has nothing to do with north vs. south. If folks were shocked then they live in a vacuum. Everybody I know up here weren't shocked at all because it happens all too often. Clearly ya'll don't follow Nation Wide news. Racial Profiling is reported everywhere. New York City is dealing with it from the Eric Garner case and are calling for a Federal investigation into their theory/practice of "broken windows".

:shame: Y'all can't be this...

Really Pops?!

Just like when something happens in the south there's always at least one black person interviewed that says, "who would think this would happen in (insert year)".

You from Chicago. I think "up North" in this case is everywhere north of Arkansas except Chicago and Detroit. LOL

Let me clarify. I feel like these mid-alantic, DMV blacks live in a vaccuum. People in DC were soooo shocked by this. I look at some of them mofo's and ask, what world do you live in?

Don't they know that there are racist that are in the police and fire department in Northern VA??? Thornton, MD is not too far from DC and it's filled with mofo involved in hate groups.

Exactly...
The KKK was started in Indiana. :noidea: Or is that not considered north?!

Man, Indiana is one of the most racist places I have ever stepped foot in.

That title belongs to Boulder, Colorado. After the first week I moved there, I walked into Quizno's and I got that "We don't like your kind around here" look from everyone. I was an ink dot on a white saucer plate.

What da hell you been smoking, dude?!?!?

African-Americans have NEVER held a majority in Mississippi. We're only 37.4% of the population according to the census.gov site...

:smh:

Seriously...you actually type this. I was born and raised in Chicago Illinois and didn't know I was naive about racism until you stated such. Go buy a clue.

Why don't you go watch the footage of MLK marching through Chicago or when Boston integrated the schools.

I clarified the east coast later bro. Calm down. Racism is the least of Chicago problems. Black people in chicago need no help from the white man in violence.

...actually that is apart of the problem.

:shame:

Not giving excuses...because nobody is forcing anybody to commit the crimes they are committing. But racism is apart of the problem.

Ok, you still need to buy 5 clues. Boston is on the east coast.

You put your foot in your mouth and you refuse to pull it out.

Do you interact with blk people from Boston regularly? Them mofos are different. Really different. Have you seen the young black professional population of DC? These folks live in a bubble.

The violence you speak of is result of racism.

The violence you speak of is result of racism.

Stop it bro. It is not that simple. You really got to start holding people accountable for their actions.
