If We Think this makes the SWAC look good, We Are Just Fooling Ourselves...Again.

It was a game that was agreed to by both parties.
The coach said himself that they played a bad game especially on offense.
I think they played another SWAC school earlier this month.
It, best some folks start worrying about coming to Baton Rouge and let them christians return to arkansas with their check.

Exactly, there is no comparison between playing Kentucky and playing a school that train preachers. Was it last year, maybe two years ago, forgot the two teams, but a majority of you was laughing at a team from the MEAC or SWAC for playing a similar size school / program from Virginia. So go you dogged the MEAC team for playing a program with less than 2000 students.

No you are saying, this is ok. And the coach said something like this "Its hard to schedule the upper to mid-level NCAA programs" what a lie. The fact is Southern, scheduled the Baptist College, just as Kentucky or Duke schedules HBCU's or a lesser opponent, the only difference is the amount of money paid out..

S U Coach just lied. If he want to schedule programs such as Kentucky, Michigan, Duke, Florida and other programs - why not call the AD I am sure they will be more than happy to place SU on the schedule.

So why no outcry for the first season of St.Katherine College when they lost to #23 San Diego State 118-35? A ranked team playing what is basically a community college that is in its first season of playing basketball? Why did they schedule the game?

A few minutes into the second half of his team's record-setting 116-12 loss at Southern on Monday night, Champion Baptist College coach Eric Capaci glanced over at the opposing bench with a bemused expression on his face.

Southern already led by nearly 70 points, yet the Jaguars were still trapping and pressing full-court almost every possession.

"I looked over a couple times at their coach, like, 'Are you serious?'" Capaci said. "I was in shock. There's a part of me that felt like I needed to approach him and defend the guys, but then again what do you prove if you blow up and get a technical? I just told the guys during timeouts to keep their heads up and keep playing hard. Let's not fight with elbows and fists and words. Let's fight with heart."

Heart, alas, was no match for a Division I foe with superior size, speed and athleticism and no qualms about running up the score.

"We lost to Southern last year by 54 points," Capaci said. "That's normal. They didn't press us the whole game and we scored quite a few points. I don't know why that happened this year. I don't know of any bad blood between us. In fact, I told [Banks] before the game that when they played Gonzaga in the NCAA tournament last year, we were all in front of the TV cheering Southern on. I'm not upset with him personally. I shook his hand after the game. It was just abnormal for us to face a full-court press like that."

Before the game, Capaci said, Banks had officials ask the Champion Baptist coach if he would mind doing away with the long media timeouts that stop play four times per half.

Capaci didn’t want to do that, telling officials those timeouts benefit his players, who can use all the rest they can get against bigger, more athletic Division I teams.

“Maybe that is what fueled something,â€￾ Capaci said. “I have no idea. I’ve never been asked to play without media timeouts in a Division I game, and I’ve played in a lot of them. I don’t know if that had anything to do with it.â€￾

By “it,â€￾ Capaci means Southern’s press. Southern pressed its way to a 44-0 lead -- which set the national record for a game-opening run -- and didn’t stop. When Champion finally hit a free throw to make it 44-1, the Southern crowd cheered.

Banks says he hadn’t realized how lopsided the game was.

“I looked at the scoreboard,â€￾ Banks said, “I turned around and asked my assistant, ‘Is that the right score?’ I think it was 44-1 at that point. I really wasn’t aware.â€￾

Capaci was.

“When you’re down 44-0 and you’re still facing a full-court press, it’s demoralizing,â€￾ he said. “We still continued to do our best and did not react outwardly to that situation.â€￾

Then don't schedule a game against us. They knew when they accepted that request what they would be in store for. I wished he would have went over to Coach Banks with that mess. Coach your team better and you won't lose by 100. It was basically a live scrimmage for our team.

I would say that SU should be ashamed of themselves
But given their history and actions, they have NO CLUE on how to be ashamed

S.U. did their best to have Champion Baptist replace jsu as the Not So Top 10 team of the year. We are getting tired of carrying you ungrateful people! :smh:  :emlaugh:

They know nothing about sportsmanship and decorum. No team continues to press when they're up by 44 points. That's foolishness. Coaches tend to remember this unsportsmanship act for future reference.

It must be 2014, I am in agreement with Get Ready and JayRob.

God don't like ugliness. This will not end well for sU.

So SU did the Melvin Spears on that team? Poor athletes hate SU now and you can tell the coach does to lol

Banks is a liar. God don't like liars either.

Honestly, wasn't SU getting ready for conference play? They may have to run a trap all game starting next week what is the problem?

Question:

Did SU keep their starters in the entire game or did they use their 2nd and even their 3rd string players?

Let's just call these post by the Buffalo posters what it is. It is sour grapes from the azz whipping that S.U. administered in Houston. You people know darn well when all is on the line, S.U. will whip your behinds so it's time to stop whining, it's not like you haven't been here before....sheesh

Pretty much

I didn't know Tenn. State posters went to JSU. Dude always trying to put something solely on JSU folks when you got a whole media frowning on that mess.
Some folks are so blind, they'll lie about anything.
Pressing with a 44 point lead is unheard of except in high school ball.

Tell him don't schedule D-I games anymore if he can't handle his team getting their a-- kicked. When we play our money games, we take the a-- kicking and our check and come on home without all of the whining. Now is he going to tell the media that he started to go over and approach the coach. They would have never made it out of there alive if that happened. lol

When SWAC teams are getting beat badly, nobody's pressing with a 40 point lead.
