If FAMU becomes an establish 1-A

Jafus - first off I have stated that this is my opinion - and we can agree to disagree, no problem with that at all. Secondly due to the fact that FAMU has not made the move there is no "statistical evidence" to use - again only my opinion on this subject.
I do fail to see how my statement concerning Troy State are contradictory when all I am saying is that Troy is getting the same type of student-athlete now that they were getting prior to moving up - only more of them because they are able to give more scholarships. I think their on-field performance is bearing that out to this point.
No one has provided any analysis to say otherwise.
It is well known that FAMU has games against Oklahoma next year and I forgot the others - but they are not going to get a return date from them. Will FAMU's fan base support 6 home games a year watching FAMU play La Tech, Troy St, etc? For a one time playoff game perhaps - but year in and year out - it remains to be seen. Look at TnSt and the OVC - fans only come to games involving HBCU's - even the years they were winning - they did not draw against PWC in the conference. That is not unique just to TnST. For one game instances - a J-State/Southern Miss, Southern/Tulane, etc - yea our fans will come out for that kind of 'one' game situation - but I dont think our fans want to see a constant schedule of PWC. Again - this is my opinion - there is no analysis for or against, just my thoughts.
Finally - in my opinion - and the recruting classes do back this up - if a student wanted to play ball at a HBCU - they would - regardless of the level. Since we are D1A in all other sports - then we would have the top athletes, I mean if we are using the analogy that since FAMU is going D1A in football - and now students are going to come and play for them simply because they made the move to D1A in football. I dont see that happening.

A lot of us Rattlers don't forsee us playing any other HBCU's besides TCC and BCC for the next five years or more.
And we are not to sure about a guaranteed losing season every year.
Yeah I would agree about planned whippings by the likes of Oklahoma, Illinois and Nebraska ( I don't even like the thought of it)
But the rest of the crop they are throwing at the alumni seems doable (Army, Toledo, Navy, Troy State, UL Lafeyette, UL Monroe, Rice, Tulane and the likes).
I see a tastee morsel or two in the bunch.
Add an expanded stadium, additonal sports facilities, maximum TV exposure, additonal coaches, increased cash flow - The Rattlers are going to get something out of this I-A deal.
IA sustainability is what it will be about. I wouldn't be surprised if we pimped the "100" to get a conference affailation. A conference affiliation may be the icing on the cake.

I am not trying to be negative, but when the highlight of your season is playing UL-(anything), Rice, Troy State, etc. I am just not feeling that. 1A just ain't worth that much to me. If you are a 1A school, beating any of those ain't saying much. IMHO, none of those games will ever match the rivalry of Southern-FAMU, Jackson State-FAMU, etc. Having I-10 Filled with loyal fans every year driving between Tallihassee and Baton Rouge. Sorry, it just ain't worth it to me.
