We laughing at all these nim-rods trying to make this into a JSU mad thing. If we was mad, we got a legit beef. Grambling is the one that fugged up. Sue Grambling for what? There was no contract for that game. It wasn't like it was a "classic game" with contracts and what not. Was Grambling getting a share of the gate from JSU last weekend? What ifweather was bad and the crowd wasn't as expected? Can the home school sue the visiting school because of the weather messing with attendance?

I understand it was JSU's homecoming, but f'real. An attempt to sue Grambling over this would be bad PR for JSU.

What obligates every member of this conference to play each other??? If there's nothing that obligates us, then why are we in a conference, following rules and subjecting ourselves to penalties. Why are we bound by a 9 game mandate??? The list goes on..... As for the weather, acts of God can't be put on anyone. But be it the bylaws or constitution, we are all contractually obligated to each other. Otherwise, we don't have to play each other at all.
 
JSU is entitled to their money. If we are sued, those players outside of the 22 that showed up, should have their scholarships stripped. Those players fugged up JSU's homecoming which in my opinion is not cool at all. Imagine JSU boycotting GSU's homecoming, we would be calling for someone's head.

Another thing these players should have boycotted their own homecoming to make a better statement.

As a GSU supporter I am pissed myself. I pay $1000 for a press box pass and $225 for 3 season tickets. If these ******s want to boycott a game they should come do some yard work to pay off the debt that I have incurred. In short JSU fans work just as hard as any other and want to enjoy their team.

What really bothers me is that 22 players showed but the media portrays this that the entire team boycotted. We should have traveled with the 22 with a running clock. This was wrong to do this to another team and school.

The conference sets the conference slate and determines penalties for violations of games, correct? But outside of that, what monetary responsibility does the visiting school have to the host school/community when it's not a contracted "classic" game. Let's say AAMU or Alabama State doesn't show for MCC. I'm pretty sure either school is on the hook for their share of the pot.

The conference has a $20K penalty for not playing. Well, in this case ... it's over and done as far as the SWAC is concerned, correct?

IMO, a lot of this talk is mostly smack-laced and hurt feelings because the kids from Grambling (whether you agree or not) took a stand to address what they feel are grievances and threw a monkey wrench into JSU's homecoming activities. I bet Comegy was like "sheiiid, we get the W and nobody gets hurt plus we can rest up. I'll take that."

Southsuburbs...yes it would. It would be looked at as kicking someone while they're down. Now some business entities around Jackson that stood to gain from the crowd can sue, if they can show receipts and projections of economic impact on their business.

I doubt very seriously JSU will sue Grambling.
People got the attitude of just moving on to the next JSU game.

You know how these schools upper mgnt stick together when shat like this is going on. Sueing Gram would make us look like bullies, fighting over Grams scraps.

This is why our conference is weak. No offense to you.

But it's a business. And if money was lost...we need to act like a business and make business decisions in the BEST interest of our University. Not decisions based on Gram's status and what they have going on.

Tell me something...How did JSU lose money?? lets be real about the situation...Let's say GSU brought 20-30 fans down there, if that...most of the attendance would have been JSU fans...I mean yall are so hound about money, yall should have let the university kept the funds from yall purchased tickets if yall are so bound and hound on the money...it aint like GSU was sending 8 bus loads of fans there smh..yall claim things went along just fine..so losing how much money again?? when only a hand few of GSU fans would have came down..smh...

No offense taken. But we've been knowing for the past 20 years or so that conference leadership has been weak. And I totally agree with your post.

Lets see.............. :idea:
At least 30,000 to 35,000 paying customers in town for homecoming at $30 to $70 per ticket. Parking at Memorial $10 per car x about 15,000. Unsold concessions, unsold JSU products at venue, etc, etc.

JSU will start ticket refunds today.......... Clarion Ledger.
Jackson State University football fans can go to Veterans Memorial Stadium or the ticket office at Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center from noon to 6 p.m. today for a refund due to the cancellation of Saturday's homecoming game

Nothing is a given. And I don't know a damn thing about intercollegiate conference law (if there's such a thing). I do believe there is some type of contract amongst all of us. Breaching a contract can lead to damages. Willful breach is even worse. Argument could be made that there was a contract and Gram violated it. JSU was ready, willing and able to perform on its end and Gram's breach caused JSU (insert value here). I have no clue what JSU will try to do in this situation.
