Re: I thought Obama said ...
Pretty much every round of tax hikes have failed. This concept goes beyond political parties. A sad fact of life is that the poor and middle class do not create jobs or industry.....the rich do. By simply punishing the very bastion that is keeping the country afloat is counter productive. Now throw in the percentage that make 250,000 a year and you are punishing even more people for being successful. We simply have a problem spending and managing the money we already have. The U.S. Govt. generates zero income, they get all of their money from US. The rich business owners however, do create jobs and income.
But what I see coming from the Dems with what they are doing is more sinister than the class warfare they are trying to envoke. The left knows they can't govern. They proved that when they had ALL control. They desperately need to share blame, if not totally deflecting it onto Republicans.
So are you saying the Repubs KNOW how to govern?

Every economic achievement--from a governmental perspective--that this country has achieved has involved an increase in taxes! From Reagan to Clinton--during the years where this country has prospered the most, taxes have been increased! You cannot deny that!
To simply say that by punishing people who make over 250K/year will derail the recovery of this country is ridiculous because it is all theoretical. There is no proof to back that up at all. And given the last 10 years where the taxes have been the lowest EVER, you would think that those people over 250K and those millionaires would have put this country in a better position with continuous job growth! But it didn't! Mainly because every rich person I know is not worried about creating jobs. They are worried about how they can become even richer..so they invest in the stock market and send their money to Swiss Banks to hide it from America! That shat aint right, because the average Joe doesn't know how to do it, let alone gather enough funds to do it right! :shame:
And while I will agree that there is some frivolous spending going in the government, let's not make this a one party problem. Because realistically, both parties contributed to this mess, especially with 2 unfunded wars, the Bush TAX SPENDING, and TARP as well as the Stimulus. Those all contributed toward spending but the last president didn't pay for it. That's a fact!
You speak of class warfare that the Dems have initiated, but how?
Dems didn't go after collective bargaining for "average citizens" making less that 250K/year!
Dems didn't go after Planned Parent Hood!
Dems didn't go after Medicare and SS!
Dems didn't go after the Dodd/Frank Act and Consumer Protection Bureau!
Dems didn't go after trying to change the minimum wage in America and try to make people work overtime for LESS!
Dems didn't go after abortion clinics and change the laws on how they operate..essentially making them less effective and almost obsolete!
I could go on, but I think you see the point. Let's talk facts and not theoretical assumptions or ideas based on political base talking points!
