Chizik got fired 2 seasons after their title. It was because folks clearly saw that Gus Malzahn and Cam Newton were the reason for his success. The program was trending down in a big way and didn't look to be on its way back anytime soon. How you go from winning the national title to losing all of your conference games in 2 years? You also have to remember this was also while Alabama was winning all of those titles along with Texas A&M being much better than folks imagined. Chizik was horrible at Iowa State and had no reason being hired at Auburn in the first place. Malzahn leaving for Arkansas State exposed Chizik's horrible coaching and he was quickly replaced. Charlie Strong will definitely get another season after this one. Texas requires a huge rebuilding process and change of culture that will take more than 2 years to fix.
No way, he will get 3 seasons for sure. The Texas AD knows it will take more than 2 seasons to get the ship righted there. You have to remember he didn't take over a 9 or 10-win Texas squad, he took over one that had a few bad seasons. That makes a huge difference in the amount of time you are given to start winning.
