Here we are, just 2 month's after the Presidential election.
Demo's went on a rampage, talking about how unqualified a certain woman was when she was picked for the Vice Presidential nod.

I said it also and still say it.

Tell me.
Why in H-E-double hockey stick's do New York Demo's think Caroline Kennedy is any different than Sarah Palin after all the hell they raised over Sarah Palin not being qualified.
I say Caroline Kennedy is even less qualified than Palin to hold office ESPECIALLY since this senate seat will be appointed.
Kennedy has not worked a day in her life and all the charities she worked on was just an empty chair at the charity HQ's.
She never showed up at the offices to work with the "everyday Joe's".

Now new Yorker's are going nutt's, trying to pressure Gov. Peterson to appoint Caroline kennedy to Hillary Clinton's seat.
What is the difference in these 2 people beside's the political party they belong too?
JUST ASKING cause I have :noidea:
Is a NAME that important to New Yorker's? :smh:

Kennedy............Glorified Housewife of a Political Family

Palin..........Gov of Alaska

I think the difference is her name and education.......

So name, education, and party make's it different?:(
WHAT HAS CAROLINE KENNEDY DONE TO BE PUT AT THE FRONT OF THE PACK?
Give me a mega rich lifestyle, don't have to work, and I can have all the degree's out there to be had.
Raising money ain't a big deal cause who couldn't raise million's when you only know millionares and billionares all your life.
Why should she be appointed ahead of other demo's that have actually served the people for year's just because of her NAME?:noidea:

Running and winning like Hillary did is one thing but getting the nod simply because of her last name is ammo for the REPUB's the next time demo's open their mouth about qualifications.
And the REPUB's would be right.

JUST SAYING.

I could care less about the position except it be given to a democrat but thats the reason I think people are pushing her for the position and the difference between her and Palin......and we cant act "brand new".....in our society many people get ahead because of name recognition.....ie Bush,Clinton,Rockefeller,Kennedy (the other ones) ect....even locally.....a person may get some "benefit" because someone may say "I know your people" ect ect.....it happens......

That and the fact that as a Jr. Senator you are not in control of as much as the VP of the USA.

STILL.
Ya'll missing the point.

WHY SHOULD SHE GET THE JOB SIMPLY BECAUSE OF HER FAMILY NAME.
Is it right to reserved that seat for the Kennedy Elite?
I know there are plenty of other qualified demo's that have served the public in New York that is way more deserving than Caroline Kennedy.
No problem with a Demo Gov appointing another demo, but ...........................:smh:

I say if she has that kind of juice, she need to run for the seat in 2 years when the term is up.
And just why hasn't she run for the seat before now after all these years.

Appointment's need to be done away with.

Appointment's need to be done away with.

1. David Patterson would be smart to appoint someone with statewide name recognition like Kennedy rather than choosing between elected officials. The only other smart option would be another non-office holder.

2. States do appointments because they're cheaper than having special elections - especially in a state the size of NY. That's the only realistic way they can have a sitting Senator for the upcoming session.

3. Kennedy may or may have what it takes to be a Senator - nobody outside her immediate circle really knows. But to compare her to Palin at this point is wrong. Palin was deemed unqualified by Republicans, Inds and Dems alike not because of her background but because of the way she performed on the political stage. She came off as a bumbling idiot in interviews, debates, etc. It was clear that she wasn't ready for a office as big as the VP, espcially for a President in her 70s. Give Kennedy time before we deem her unqualified. Politics has a way of seperating contenders from pretenders.

Another thing, Kennedy's candidacy has run into plenty of resistance from New York Dems. But their concerns probably have more to do her high-profile support for Obama during the primary and the fact that she's up to this point led a pretty low-key existance than the fact that she's a Kennedy.

The big difference is Caroline Kennedy is seeking a seat in the U.S. Senate, whereas Sarah Palin would have been one heart beat from being the President.

:shame:

So a name trump's everything with the majority of N.Y. demo's.
Oh well.

Just asking.:D
She will be New York's sink or swim problem.
Still say it's the same thing as Sarah Palin and I don't care if it is a "local" seat.

She has never held a job, never held office, never ran for any office, never served the public in an OFFICIAL job in any form in her life, but she qualified to jump to the front of the line for this job because of the KENNEDY name.

She raised 60M for NYC Public Schools as director o some foundation. I'm sure she's done other things. To imply that she's sat on her tail for 30 years is misleading. People had these same concerns about Hillary Clinton and Obama when they ran for their respective offices.

Also, one thing this past year has taught us is there's no "waiting line" when it comes to politics. If you see a seat you want, go for it. Right now, Kennedy figure her best shot at a Senate seat is right now thru the appointmet process. Can't blame her for going for it. And I can't blame Patterson if he chooses her. He has to run for re-election in 2010 alongside whomever he chooses. So you know he's gonna make a choice thats in line with his political goals.

Name recognition and fame does trump a lot in NY. One reason is because the state is so large, its to any politicians advantage to be known statewide prior to campaigning. But I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. NY is attracted to big names. Mississippi is attracted to rednecks and bible thumping good ole boys. Its all the same in the end.

I don't blame her but let's be honest about it just like people were honest about Palin's qualifications.

Clinton and Obama actually RAN and got ELECTED for their jobs.
Those concern's were put on the front burner during the course of an open election.

I'M JUST SAYING THAT IT IS WRONG FOR A PERSON TO BE GIVEN A JOB SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THEIR NAME.
I'm not a New Yorker so it don't affect me.

As for the $60 million for New York public school's.
How hard is it for a person that has not held a job in their life to raise money from a bunch of millionare and billionare friends.
A couple of parties, a promise of a KENNEDY FAVOR, and the check book's fly open.

I agree with you Players. Although I thought Palin was the wrong choice for VP, she atleast has held politcal office. Even holds the post of the highest job in the land for her state. All Kennedy has is a name.

You guys are looking too much resumes and too little at how the candidates themselves perform. On paper Sarah Palin might seem more qualified, but she came off as so flaky that no one deemed her VP material. Kennedy is just really getting started, so we'll have to see. She's off to a shaky start IMO. And don't overlook her ability to raise money. A lot of rich people can't raise 2 cents outside their own funds, so her raising 60M is impressive.

One more thing to consider is how the Obama factor plays into this. She's obviously a favorite of his and she was the reason why he snagged Ted Kennedy's endorsement in the primary. If he's pushing behind the scenes for her to get this seat....you know that's gonna have a positive impact on her chances.

I agree with you and players. All Kennedy has is a name. If this was a GOP person up for the job with the same experience, Democrats would be playing the "inexperienced" card as well.

Yes it is about name and with the 2010 election right around the corner, in order to maintain that seat the Dems better choose somebody with a name and can raise lots of cash quickly. I defiantly thinks she's unqualified, but this seat will be open for state wide election in 2010, so I'm not that upset. The Repubs would do the same thing if they were in this position. In politics it's all about surviving to fight another day so damn some qualifications. So Players, that is your reason.

Because there's a WORLD of difference between being a Junior Senator and being a Heartbeat Away from the Presidency.

Being a Legislator is oftimes a "Learn on the Job" kind of gig and many, many, MANY of them had no experience before being elected. (Hillary Clinton and Fred Thompson come immediately to mind.)

Being VP however, means being able to become the Leader of the Free World at a Moment's notice -- and clearly, Sarah Palin was not qualified for that job. (and oh, by the way, If Caroline Kennedy was asked "What Newspapers do you read?", I'd bet she'd be able to come up wiith an answer.)

You shole is right Frat. As a matter of fact I bet Palin don't want to go to a debate with Caroline. She may be rich and never held some job. But one thing for sure she is smart as a mofo. Much smarter than her late brother was.

The Demos need to make sure they have a candidate that can raise money and hold off a name Republican. And there have been many Senators with no experience. Al Franken so far is leading Norm Coleman here in Minnesota in the recount. If he wins.........he would have no experience. Hell I rather have Caroline Kennedy in the Senate than goof ball Al Franken.

AHH.
I'm not buying that excuse for a second.
UNQUALIFIED IS UNQUALIFIED....................NATIONAL OR LOCAL.
If this was a repub governor appointing a housewife with no job experience at all to a SENATE POST, people would be shatting brick's by now accusing the repub's of GOOD OLE BOY/GIRL POLITICS and ya'll know it.
This board would be smoking by now with  post.

Come on people.
I SAY AGAIN.
THERE ARE A HELL OF A LOT MORE DEMO CHOICES IN NEW YORK THAN CAROLINE KENNEDY.:retard:
This is nothing but a name...............

She gave an interview the other day and she sounded like LL COOL J.:lmao:
Instead of saying "Know what I'm saying", her line was "YA KNOW" after every other word so she's not the best at public speaking on the fly.
They counted that phrase over 200 time's with the daily News interview, 130 times in a interview with the NY Times, and 80 in another interview.

Sorry.
I got to call out this farce just like I called out Palin the entire time she was running.
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 NO MATTER HOW YA'LL TRY TO DRESS THIS UP. :smh:

Caroline is no wiz with word's........You know / NY Daily News.

Transcripts of her interviews with other media outlets showed the same problem. She said "you know" at least 130 times to The New York Times and more than 80 times on New York 1.

When The News asked if President Bush's tax cuts on the wealthy should be repealed immediately, Kennedy replied:

"Well, you know, that's something, obviously, that, you know, in principle and in the campaign, you know, I think that, um, the tax cuts, you know, were expiring and needed to be repealed."

First of all player, I don't knw what TV you're watching and what planet it's on, but every channel that I turn to , the majority of the dems agree with you.

Now if you don't know the difference between a Jr. Senator and being a heartbeat away from the most powerful position in the world, than I understand why you might pick Sarah Palin. :emlaugh:

OK.
If I'm in the MAJORITY of people that think she is unqualified, what's the problem man.:noidea::D
You all out in the stadium parking lot trying to catch a in-field ground ball.

I'm not going to even bother with you cause you know exactly what I'm talking about.
I know the difference between the 2 JOBS.

BUT

If Caroline Kennedy is such a good fund raiser, then give her a job as a fund raiser since that's what people are pointing too as a reason for her getting the job.
I'm just as qualified as Caroline Kennedy to hold that job.

Hell.................:lmao:
I'm even more qualified cause I have held a job since I turned 15 year's old. :lmao:
The last 20 year's have been in state government.

Players is going off on a tangent based on how he "THINKS" Dems feel about Kennedy. There's no evidence whatsoever to back up what he's saying. Like blue said, most Dems are coming out against her. This has been anything but a coronation.

JR, I think Minn Dems made the wrong choice with Franken. A generic Dem would've killed Coleman this year. But having read several books by Franken, I think he'd make a pretty good Senator.

You overlook everything don't you.
Ain't no tanget here cause what happen's in a New York Burrough don't mean a damm thing to me.
I just asked WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE TITLE POST.
And as usual here, certain people get upset that someone has the nerve to question or discuss anything the demo's do.

When this first came up, NY DEMO's were bout to nutt on themselves just thinking about her being the choice until she actually started going around TALKING a week later.
People didn't even question her until that REP from NY "called her out", (on asking for the job), and then people got brave and started speaking out.

Lawd have mercy.
