During the latter stages of the civil war when it was increasingly more evident that the South was going to be invaded, slave holders marched as many as 150,000 slaves out of the deep south to Texas.
The story of the Creek, Cherokee and Choctaw(and some Seminoles from northern Florida) indians that were rounded up and expelled from the Georgia and Alabama territories on a march to Oklahoma, The Trail of Tears, is well documented. I have never heard much of slaves being marched to Texas
