How Deep is your love

Okay...yep, research for a book here!

Here is the situation:

- Newly married couple--2nd marriage for wife; 1st marriage for husband.
- Wife has an 8YO child from 1st marriage AND she is 4 months pregnant with her child with Husband 2.
- Ex-husband has also remarried-- his second, his new wife's first and he refuses to have more children though she does want some.

NOW...First child gets sick and needs the stem cells from an identical donor--only way for that to happen is to have another child by first husband... except she is pregnant by second husband.

So...here are some options:

1. Abort current pregnancy and get pregnant with first husbands child?
2. Keep current pregnancy and then get pregnant with first husband's child?
3. Go with God...and wait and see and hope that he is somehow miraculously healed?...

How should this story end??:retard:
First see Maury.
The second husband is probably the real father of the first baby...problem solved.
Of course you know the first husband is the father of the second baby.

explain where the unrealism is? If there was a good possiblity of saving your child...you wouldn't even "consider" having a kid with your ex? You'd just walk away, sit by his hospital bed and watch him die? I dont believe that for a moment. So again, explain where the unrealism is? All scenarios posted above would cross through your mind...

Medically and biologically it's highly unrealistic.

Really? Expound please.

Well there are several things. If a person needed "identical" stem cells, they could only come from either him- or herself or an identical twin. Otherwise, stem cells are matched to the patient based on HLA, an immune protein. Non-twin siblings only have a 25% chance of being a match, and this can't be determined beforehand. Granted, this is much higher than the percentages of being a match with anyone else, including a parent, but it's still a 1 in 4 chance.

Medically, we aren't at a point yet where stem cell transplants alone can cure diseases. They are mostly used as part of cancer/leukemia treatment plans, since they allow for much more aggressive treatments to be used. Chances are, a child in this situation doesn't have 9 months (in the best case scenario) to wait to start receiving treatment.

Thanks for the specifics... but I'm still going with my premise...its plausible as suggested--too real for the fiction/entertainment audience. Have you read My Sister's Keeper? that child was born to keep her sister alive...interesting twist at the end though...just like mine will be.

At first thought when I had this idea, I'm like, abort immediately and get pregnant with ex's child. I also thought/knew that idea would mean death of that marriage...just from the mention of it from the wife.

Yes, the ex-husbands new wife WILL raise hell. We all want what we want...but at the same time will a decent father basically sacrifice his child simply because of 1) his own selfishness and 2) new wife's wants? I think the average dude WOULD say Yes if it would save the first child. AND I think the average dude WOULD talk to his ex-wife husband to push the point home...cause he IS trying to save the kid.

Oh...its gonna be a tangled weave...but y'all wish me luck on pulling it off effectively.

We studied situations like this during my counseling courses. I never did agree with Carl Rogers and Arbuckle. I became the most hated in the class because I would show no mercy for anything. LOL

This would be a good story about moralities, family values, how to handle lose/lose situations, faith in God, and loyalty.

It would be full of contradictions, and conflicts, selfish reasoning, compromises and understandings.

Would the ex couple be THAT willing to put their new lives on the line, in hopes that they can save the life of their child?

Interesting storyline. But I still stand by option #3. They choose any other option, and this story should end badly for everybody.
