Hoover vs John Curtis TONIGHT

Whats your take on the game...

Bama vs Louisiana... will be on ESPNU if you have DirecTv.
 
Should be a good one, but I gotta go with the home team. Curtis has a way of showing up for big games, and this one is certainly a big one. They're always a strong running team, and they play great sound defense, so if the game is played without home cooking, I got Curtis in a close one.

Cant be no home cooking... Everybody in this state HATES Hoover for some reason lol
There will be more people at in this state cheering for John Curtis than Hoover EASILY.
 
I don't think Curtis is as strong as they use to be. Moving them and Evangel down lowered their recruiting.

Schit Hill, Bama sounds like a lot like SE Louisiana, because nobody down there can stand Curtis. lol I don't know how long Hoover has been winning in Bama, but Curtis has been kicking arse for 30 some odd years now. If they're not winning the state championship at their level, they're in the game or the semi-finals.

They start getting football players in the 7th grade, and they keep em in the system, and then they recruit the best junior high/middle school players in Jefferson Parish that's not at Curtis already.

They're a SE LA football factory.

I think Curtis will pull the upset. They handed my old high school (Donaldsonville) their arses last year.

I don't know about that 94. They remained strong, and the only reason they moved up in the first place, because they were tired of hearing people say they were afraid of competiton at the 4A, and 5A level. They won at 3A, and moved up to 4A and won, and went back down, and won again.

That's one school that never has to worry about recruiting. Hell JT Curtis (Curtis' head coach)is on Friday Night Football (at least pre-Katrina he was) hosting the show with Ed Daniels every week, and the kids know that Curtis is going to get air time.

Hoover hasnt been a school long at all... It use to be Berry High, but they turned that into a middle school and built Hoover High... Its kind of hard to compare because the city of Hoover grew overnight.... Its one of the fastest growing cities in the state, home of the largest mall in the state and one of the largest in the SouthEast, Birmingham Barons... it use to be a small rural area... now it has close to 100,000 people and is one of the richest cities in the South.

Is that the mall off of I-59? I saw a huge arse mall when I riding through that area this past weekend, I think it was close to the McCalla exit off of I-59 or I-459, schit I forget.

They were forced back down. If it weren't for larger schools complaining, Curtis would still be in 4A and Evangel in 5A, not 1A. The new classification at the beginning of 05-06 made them go to 2A.

Im not understanding LA high school classifications.... do they classify based on how good you are? You threw me off when you said larger schools were complaining... I take it LA has alot of private schools playing football?

Here it dont matter how good you are... they look at enrollment from 10-12 grade and section it off.... You can have the baddest team in the state but if you have 250 people in those grades you are going to be a 1a school. We dont have too many private schools playing football here. I can really only think of about 4 in AHSAA.

Don't know abut Curtis, but Evangel came here (Dallas) to play Southlake Carrol a few weeks ago and got the dog isht beat out of them. It wasn't even close.

Evangel is a shell of their former self. The Booty's aren't there anymore and I'm pretty sure Curtis would beat the dog ist outta them too.

I watched that on TV... I felt sorry for Evangel... They were losing players every damn play lol.... It got so bad their running back or wide receiver had to play quarterback for the entire second half...

Saw that game, like someone said on another thread, Evangel ain't half of what it use to be. U should've seen the Booty days and the Berlin days.

LA is the same now. You play in a class based on your schools enrollment from 9-12. But before '05, a school could request to play in a class above their enrollment. For instance, Evangel is a class 1A school(under 250 students) but requested to play in 3A, and in 1999, requested to move up to 5A. After kicking the tails of schools like Capital, W. Monroe, etc., a decision was made for all schools to play in the class based on enrollment. No moving up.
 
I dont think ESPNU is showing JC and Hoover game tonight, the tv schedule is televising a game between De La Sale and Mission Viejo from Cali a 8:00 PM est.


BTW, I have DirectTV.

Believe me, that was not the Evangel that used to be ranked in the nation year in and year out. Evangel hasn't been Evangel since John David Booty left along with his dad...... So, that game really doen't make South Lake Carroll the real s**t. I want to see them play Hoover, but SLC coach refuses to take his boys out of the state to play anybody. I think that says a lot about the confidence that he has in his team against unfamiliar competition..... I know Propst will come to his azz though if SLC wants to go at it.....
