HBCU Basketball Scores 2024

Final
Southern U. 68
E TX. A&M 70

( didn’t care for the performance by my Jags, too many missed opportunities at point blank range)

Man tough loss from Southern. I watched most of the game. You had a three point shooter open and #22 tried to score amongst the trees. Y’all have a good looking bunch tho.

I have some opinions but have only seen them play once, so I’m reserving comments until seeing more. The officials didn’t do S.U. in favors but understand how college basketball works on the road in these non conference tilts. IMHO, the Jags should have and could have overcome that. I liked the coach second half strategy, but the players didn’t execute as well as they should have.

Valley is an embarrassment to the SWAC at this point. Damn shame!

I don't even see the benefit of a Men's BB program at that school.

Rich coming from a dumb ssa with this OOC slate

Would explain how basketball is the breadwinner at most SWAC schools or how it's cheaper than most sports but I'll just call you a dumb ssa with an anti-Valley bias

Sorry, no MVSU bias over here. It actually hurts me to see these type of scores for any SWAC program.

True, most of our schools struggle OOC but Valley is not even competitive in the SWAC these days. Please explain to me the viability of a program that is 13-130 the last 5 years.

Is its only purpose just to fund the rest of Athletics?

Nice Tourney! Much SUCCESS!!!

AAMU Men’s Basketball to host Bulldog Bash

Alabama A&M
The Bulldogs (3-2) started the season strong with wins over Oakwood, Arkansas Baptist and Fisk. However, Alabama A&M is currently in the midst of a two-game losing streak after going on the road, with losses to Tennessee State and Georgia.

London Riley leads the scoring at 17.3 points, while Chad Moodie is averaging 13.4 points and 5.8 rebounds. AC Bryant is third on the team at 10.2 points. Alabama A&M, who averages more than 100 points per game in the first three games of the season, is shooting 46.1 percent and averaging 88.6 points.

Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers (1-3) are coming into the weekend riding a three-game losing streak. Coastal Carolina opened the season with a 60-56 win over Western Michigan, but have since dropped games to East Carolina, N.C. State and Jacksonville State.

Rasheed Jones leads the way offensively at 14.8 points, while Denzel Hines is averaging 10.3 points per game. The Chanticleers are averaging 60.5 points and shooting 40.0 percent from the floor in the four games.

IU Indy
The Jaguars (2-3) enter on a two-game losing streak, opening the season with a win over IU Columbus, before falling to Xavier. After a win against Goshen College, IU Indy dropped back-to-back games against Eastern Michigan and No. 5 Iowa State.

Paul Zilinskas and Jarvis Walker pace the offense by averaging 18.6 and 13.4 points per game, respectively. The Jaguars are shooting 42.0 percent from the floor and averaging 80.0 in the first five games.

South Carolina State
The Bulldogs (2-3) are looking to get above .500 this weekend. After starting the season 2-1 with wins over Morris College and Voorhees, South Carolina State is looking to end a two-game losing streak as the Bulldogs fell to Jacksonville and Bethune-Cookman.

Wilson Dubinsky is leading the offense at 11.6 points and Drayton Jones is right behind at 11.0 points. South Carolina State is averaging 83.8 points and shooting 47.2 percent from the field.

Will be so glad when we can get an AD, coach and president on the same page so that we can ween ourselves off these games

It's not bias when we keep seeing this nonsense from any SWAC school.

Valley is playing the 19th toughest schedule in the nation. Grambling is playing the 4th toughest. Florida A&M has 18th.

It's not US painting the schools as taking checks to fund everything other sport. That is the MEDIA who does that. Because they are NOT doing that with schools like Chicago State-who are doing the SAME thing.

Of calling out schools like Iowa State. Who are playing on 3 teams with SOS in the top 50. They have the EASIEST schedule in the nation.

Is its only purpose just to fund the rest of Athletics?

Some of that is from bad hires in charge of the school.

Some of it is from the STATE NOT properly funding the school. See Tennessee State. Who is owed $2 billion in back funding.
