HBCU Baseball and Softball: May 3 - May 8

Softball To Make Up Southern Series Monday Afternoon For Seeding Purposes
The PVAMU softball team will hit the diamond earlier than normal as they'll make up its final two games versus Southern Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Irondale, Ala.

PVAMU will need to win both games in order to clinch the No. 2 seed out of the SWAC West as one win by SU would move them down to the No. 3 seed. The No. 2 seed sets up a matchup versus Mississippi Valley State while a No. 3 finish marks a rematch with Alcorn State.

The 2016 SWAC Tournament kicks off Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Irondale, Ala.

Lmao stop it. That extra appropriations was in the last couple of years.

But the baseball program wasn’t deducting the out-of-state fees from its pool of scholarship money.

“That caused them to go over in scholarships,” said Banks, who doubles as the men’s basketball coach. “All head coaches are supposed to have a reasonable knowledge of their program. You can make a mistake — but after you do it year after year after year, it becomes that program’s problem and the institution’s problem for not catching that.”

Banks said the improper application of the formula for rewarding scholarships dates “seven or eight years.” (which probably means 17 or 18 years)
