[h=5]O'Brien Agrees With Texans[/h]
Penn State's Bill O'Brien has reached an agreement to become the new coach of theHouston Texans, according to league sources. The deal is expected to be announced no later than Saturday.

Texans owner Bob McNair wanted a coach who had both NFL experience and head coaching experience.
O'Brien, a protégé of Patriots coach Bill Belichick, was a New England assistant from 2007 until 2012. He eventually became the offensive coordinator for a Patriots team that lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI.
He left the Patriots two years ago to take over Penn State in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal.
Despite a bowl ban and relaxed transfer rules that allowed players to leave Penn State without delay, the Nittany Lions went 15-9 under O'Brien, including 10-6 in the Big Ten. He was the conference coach of the year in 2012.
Before becoming Penn State's coach, O'Brien, 44, was an offensive assistant with the New England Patriots from 2007 to 2011, and took over the role of offensive coordinator before moving on.

Dude knew that coaching at Penn State was tooooooooooooo much!

Nah. He did a good job with Penn State. Plus the NCAA is giving them scholarships back. Everybody knew he would go back to the NFL once the right job came.

Wait til he arrive in Houston with all that talent they have on paper but when it come to the field it doesn't materialize...IJS!

Shid. They got talent. Just fugging soft. They get Teddy Bridgewater, you know the QB who's mother got pissed with Les for going after Mettenberger. Lol. Just think what that kid would have done at LSU. Bill is walking into a good situation. Get rid of all them native Texas folks like Wade Phillips too nice arse and bring some toughness to that organization. This may save the brother GM job.

In an interview, O'Brien had some pretty venomous words for the "Paterno" loyalist so he was setting up his exit strategy then.

I am sure he got to deal with some real arses. Will be interesting whether Schiano or Munchak gets that job. He leaves them in good shape so they need to be grateful.

Mighty good to be white! Coach two years and get an NFL Head Coaching job, while coaches like David Shaw name is barley mentioned that has just as much experience, has done it longer and at a school like Stanford that has some of the hardest academic requirements!

David Shaw said he doesn't have a desire to coach in the NFL at the moment. But teams did contact his agent to gauge interest.

Only the "Paterno" loyalist. Most of the fans loved O'Brien.

I dont care what school you go to, its VERY DIFFICULT to follow a legend.

Yep... people tend to forget that people were questioning fisher at FSU until this year really... he was getting the talent but the results didn't all come together until he got the right QB with Winston.

All that energy she exuding in doing The Hen needs to be shifted to doing some treadmill and squats

This was all very strange and looked planned. We all knew that O'Brien was only there to get PSU through the tough times. After that rough start, he pulled the team together and did well. He did what he was supposed to do. Seems to me that PSU let him know he could go becasue they probably already knew they had a coach lined up. Why else would PSU lower the NFL buyout clause?

Exactly. They knew they could go get a Penn State lifer. Once the NCAA started reducing their penalties and O'Brien had them in the right direction. The Joe Pa Penn State folks who still have power were like it is back on now. They feel they weathered the storm. They always wanted Schiano or Al Golden. Schiano was the choice even before Joe Pa had to step down. Now they got their choice between him and Munchak who is a Penn State alum. Munchak is not going to last too much longer in Tn with Bud Adams passing on.

“You can print this: You can print that I don’t really give a [expletive] what the ‘Paterno people’ think about what I do with this program. I’ve done everything I can to show respect to Coach Paterno. Everything in my power. So I could really care less about what the Paterno faction of people, or whatever you call them, think about what I do with the program. I’m tired of it.

“For any ‘Paterno person’ to have any objection to what I’m doing, it makes me wanna put my fist through this windshield right now.”

David Shaw may have been the #1 target of the Texans, but he was not interested in leaving Stanford. So they moved on....
