GSU vs Alcorn Game Saturday?

Re: GSU v ASU Cancelled

For those of you that are saying that Alcorn dropped the ball, prove it.

Kenn Rashad said that he got a call from the SWAC Office asking him to take down the press release about the game being moved to Sunday. I'm thinking that the SWAC might have stepped in and asked that this game be postponed. All indications from Alcorn were that the game was being played and they even released a statement saying it would be played Sunday.
Then, Kenn gets a call from the SWAC Office asking him to take down a press release and the next thing we know, the game is postponed. I'm thinking the SWAC had something to do with the game being postponed.

Yes...this is the latest development. Nothing confirmed yet. I got an email from the SWAC office asking that I remove the last press release stating that I remove the annoucement about the game being played on Sunday.

Why can't they just post a annoucement that the game was postponed like what was posted for SU/McNeese game. Quit being so secretive about it and say whether it is on or not.

Lets start the healing process, and get ready for A&M............

Power has been restored and administrative offices will open on Friday, September 2, 2005. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 6, 2005.

Saturday game against Gambling has been postponed until a date to be announced so that student athletes can help with the hurricane relief effort in southwest Mississippi.

Anybody else want to try and clown Alcorn for not playing? Apparently, they want to help people that were affected by Hurricane Katrina try to get back on their feet.

... because alcorn doesn't have an sid yet.

The S.I.D. wouldn't make a decision weather the game would be played or not.

Antroy don't be so naive. If Bristow was so eager to help those affected by Katrina, why the effort to move the game to Sunday or consider moving the game to ICON/Grambling.

So is the game postponed or not? I wanted to bring my girls to the game to get my mind off of all this stuff.

Grambling St vs. Alcorn State Football Postponed
September 1, 2005
The Grambling State vs. Alcorn State football game that was originally rescheduled for Sunday has been officially postponed due to activities associated with Hurricane Katrina. No official makeup date has been announced as of yet. Further information regarding this event will be available at a later date.

Hi all, glad to once again be able to post on the SWACpage. It's seems that we have lost all focus of the importance of this situation as a whole. Whatever the reason for not having the game this weekend, so be it. Yes I was looking forward to this game (with water and lights or without) but I think we need to think a little further than football and rivalries. There are thousands that wish they could have a drink of water and we are selfishly thinking about a "game".

Alcorn made the decision they felt best. I agree with their decision. Now it's up to the SWAC office to determine a fair replay date. The only thing I see them doing is playing the game on Dec 3rd if necessary. If both teams win their division...scrap the replay game and go on to Birmingham for both teams.
If not... play it Dec 3rd.

I think that this decision was a lot easier to make considering the fact that a football player was hurt by a falling tree branch earlier this week while he was on his way back to the dorm from the cafeteria.

I guess we didn't drop the ball as much as you all think, Grambling!
Antroy, only Coach said something about Alcorn dropping the ball. You make it seem like a bunch of Grambling posters criticized Alcorn. Seems to me most Grambling posters were in agreement that Alcorn's President made the right decision even after moving the game back a day.

This thread needs to be closed. No point in it being open anymore. Time for Grambling to turn it's attention to Alabama A&M and Alcorn to Southeastern Louisiana.

COSIGN !!!

It is thier home game and you can't make them accept your terms like the last straw. Alcorn did what was best for tehm . I can't say i blame them . NO room to stay and how much money would they profit off playing in grambling ????
I don't blame them.

This is a trip to me. How the hell you goin force the home team to meet your accomodations or else. :emlaugh: :emlaugh: :emlaugh: :emlaugh: :emlaugh:

CRAZY AS HELL !!!!

They might as well postpone all the games for Week 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!All of the good games are either canceled or postponed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think about this....
AAMU plays the ICON/Grambling on Sept 10th in Grambling. The same hotel space near Grambling that Alcorn was talking about probably still won't be available next Saturday. Is the logical thing to do is move the game to Hunstville? Should ICON/Grambling be made to...they are the home team. Or should that game be cancelled too?
