Grambling vs. Prairie View A&M: Game Updates

1st drive....they tried....nothing...except the shovel pass....I knew our run defense would stop it..

that's your weakness....Terrion Rodgers would be All-SWAC in a run based offense

PV was blitzing and blitzing and blitzing like most teams do when they plays us, and we just went up top. You should know PVs corners can't cover our WRs one on one. PVs corners were tired by the 4th. They had their hands on their knees. We just kept subbing WR after WR, and PVs guys couldn't keep up. If PV didn't blitz as often and had safety help it wouldn't have been that bad. But then, we also would have been able to run the ball. So, it's a double edge sword.

I'm not a genius nor don't want to be but a true "actor" knows how to manipulate an audience...

lets say I don't like Jafus and Jafus doesn't like me and we both know when we're in the same room we won't talk to each other even if we were by ourselves

but now I see a big crowd who are unaware of our likes/dislikes so I'll go over and make a "friendly" gesture knowing the consequences of the relationship....

now, it looks like I'm the "good guy" by premeditated gesture and people who are unaware of the situation will side with me (hence the response by SOG)

simple as that

If this is indeed the case the actions by Spears should have been expected -- right?

NASTYNUPE,

Trust me, he tried!! But he and the Grambling State Tigers could not do it. He tried to shut the team out too, but he and the Grambling State Tigers could not do it.

Congratulations!! Time to move forward.

Sounds like you're proud that PV held us to 50 and scored 7 points... This is a part of the problem. You guys have gotten so accustomed to losing that you find "victory" in your team being able to "hold" and opponent to 50 points and being able to put up a score...

That's not Interesting...that's pathetic!

I truly believe if Grambling was "trying to score 70 points" Spears would have left Bruce in for the entire game. And I truly believe Grambling would have scored more than 70.

PV needs to do something and stop blaming coaches for running up the score. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. You guys haven't beaten us since 1986. Something needs to happen. But finger pointing gets you NOWHERE!!!

maybe cutting our admission standards and adding simple majors will help.....literally.

Is this the excuse you use when you only lose to us or does this apply to all of the SWAC loses you suffer?

SAME OLD G,

How do you know it was 70 points and not 50 points?

Coach Spears publicly stated as such.

As far as I am concerned they tried to score whenever they could...as offenses are suppose to do. The "will and spirit" of the entire PV team (not just the players) was broken when they (PV) started with the cheap shots.

Interesting!!

So brother Jafus, since you have all of the answers about how we attempted to score 70 points, can you tell us why Coach Frazier wouldn't talk to Coach Spears after the game?

I do not believe I have all the answers. But I feel comfortable in my position. The two coaches do not see eye to eye. They really do not care for one another in terms of how the prepare and how they coach their teams. Coach Spears openly stated that he was going to put up 70 points on Prairie View and this and that. Coach Frazier took exception to his comments and his public display (Those that are familiar with Coach Steve Spurrier?s style and antics).

Some view it as arrogant, autocratic, smug, and disrespectful. Some just view it as cocky, a swagger, and the old ball coach. So prior to the game Coach Spears went over and told Coach Frazier that it was not personal (his public comments and what was going to take place on the field today). Coach Frazier responded by telling Coach Spears that he did not operate in that manner and turned away.

Trust me!! I do not have any allegiance to Coach Frazier or any coach for that matter. If he is wrong, then I will openly state that he is wrong and he needs to change or we need to change and go in a different direction. If I had the slightest inclination that he was teaching his players dirty tactics, then I would be the first on the phone with Coach Frazier, athletic director Charles McClelland, President Wright, and contacting other alums as well as writing letter regarding my position. Anybody that really knows me and cares to get to know me knows that is just the way I operate.

I could add more, but it is time to move forward. I only responded with this amount of information because you ask and I respect you as an individual.

Take it for what it is worth.

Think About It!!

That is how it might sound to you. I told you what Coach Spears wanted to do and that es was unable to achieve what he and obviously what other fans on this site wanted Coach Spears and Grambling State Tigers to do to Coach Frazier and the Prairie View A & M Panthers. If you want to know what I think you could just ask.

A seasoned actor always plays to his audience !!!!

It is simple as someone else said. If two people don't like each other they don't do that "people are watching " crap and try to give out a scene that is perceived as a good gesture. I respect coach spears all the same but just WIN THE GAME AND GO HOME. NO ONE OWES ANYONE ANY SPECIAL RESPECT IN THIS CONFERENCE AS COACHES. WE HAVE TOO MANY NEW COACHES IN THIS COFERENCE. RESPECT IS EARNED.The two teams could not even shake hands afterwards which is sad on both sides. I would have rather us just bust pv azz right off and send in the backups instead of waiting til the 4qtr to do so. If i don't like someone for real I am not goin to break my neck speakign to them at all unless a mediator comes in and calms the sitiuation but as far as me trying to respond to someone that i know does not like me is crazy.

read the lines...it's the truth..no excuses

if a prop has a 2.0 or a transfer whose transcript doesn't fit in with any of our majors...he can't come to PV.....therefore, a kid who can help in a year or two is now forced to go somewhere else. Seen it with my own eyes...that Gram team isn't 43 points better than us..Southern also....

just think about the kids you got who sat out because they can't get in certain places...

I applaud yall for using the system....we're not doing it correctly..but that's beyond athletics

maybe if you saw the Dallas PD form a large line between both teams as soon as the game ended...don't look like it was planned from the start

Coach Spears maybe a lot of things, but is not dumb. Late in the game his offensive linemen were getting tired as well and Prairie View defensive linemen (linebackers) finally got a couple of legal solid hits on Bruce Eugene. Coach Spears understands that there is still a long season to be played and his ultimate goal is to win a SWAC Championship irregardless to his position on Coach Frazier and the 70 points he wanted to put on the scoreboard. He did not want to get Bruce Eugene hurt on a "fluke" play or hit. I am sure he will try again, next year if he is given the opportunity.

Congratulations GSU!! Time to move forward.

tbf,

I think you just found the problem. Now it time to find a solution for it.

Let me just state for the record. I like PV! The school and its fans. Many of you on this board I know personally and think are cool as hell...(tbf, Jafus, Fiyah, crazy arse P, Quietstorm, Tara).

Me, tbf and some other PV folks kicked it for a few minutes on Friday night just shootin the ****. I would like nothing more than for this game to become a more competitive one. It appears that PV is slowly, but surely turning the corner.

Currently, I just don't like the way the SFC is marketed. Al Wash does a horrible job of doing so. And it was clear that this year was the worst is has ever been...see the final game attendance...and the weather was perfect. Still don't know why the game was moved to an hour earlier this year.

I agree. There is some questions regarding the payout of sponsorship revenue, as well. Hopefully things will get better. I know we still have some work to do.

Define slow. The speed at which PV is turning the corner is equivalent to their commitment to winning.
