tomcat, I respect you for your honesty. Very brave of you to post your thoughts and opinion on such a sensitive subject.
I do however, respectfully, disagree with you on some points. One being that the remaining 9 SWAC schools are "undisciplined, unprepared, and unpredictable". I love UAPB and those damn Golden Lions with all my heart, and I'll be the very first one to say that yeah, we played some games with little or no discipline. But we have improved tremendously on that issue. Our penalties have been lower in the past 2 games and our players have learned to take their aggressions out through their drives/plays.
As for being "unprepared", my Golden Lions HAVE NOT played a game this year unprepared. They practice hard everyday with zeal, effort, and diligence. My boys take to the gridiron on gameday and put their blood, sweat, and character into the game.......we have not won many games, but the ones we did (and even those we did not) were not because we were "unprepared". I cannot speak for the remaining 9 in our conference, but losing games does not make a team unprepared. In the case of my boys, it is a simple matter of over-powering the opponent and out-smarting the officials.
It saddens me that you choose to give up on the SWAC; we have such a wonderful conference that has put out as many conference football championships as pwcs. Out of the 10 in our conference, 8 have won SWAC football championships, and I can assure you that UAPB is working damn hard on making it 9/10 soon. Grambling is a powerhouse and it is synonymous with "champions" and "greatness". I will admit that. Equally, however, are the remaining 9 because each has contributed to the excellence in the SWAC. I would encourage you to look at the list of players in the HBCU Game......Jackson has made an impression, Texas Southern has players on the list, Alcorn has a contribution, Prairie View put it's mark on the list, Southern has a player who made the cut as does Alabama A&M, and UAPB has done it's part to add to this. This is all in addition to the players from Grambling State.

Additionally, I would encourage you to read the thread about Jerry Rice being selected for the #1 spot in NFL History.....there were 9 athletes from HBCUs on that list; 6 being from the SWAC!:tup:
If you choose to wear Grambling's attire, your choice. I myself admit that next year, God willing, I will collect at least one shirt/jersey from each of the SWAC schools because I do have a sense of pride about this great conference of ours. It is the best African American Athletic Conference because the institutions represented are great. And nothing wrong with cheering for a particular team at the SCG; Lord knows we need to support one another. But I don't know if I'd be wearing another schools attire.........that is a little extreme for the Lioness.
