Based on the true story of a basketball team that changed basketball forever. Just wondering how many folks know this story? If they don't, they should. Watch the trailor.

I've heard of this team a while back. I will definitely be seeing this one on Friday. And when it comes out on DVD it has to be added to the collection. I think Nolan Richardson went to Texas Western. Am I correct? I know Pat Riley played on that Kentucky team that they beat for the Championship. I hear Adolph Rupp was a big time racist. Probably would turn over in his grave if he knew that blacks played and coached at UK.

Pat Riley can't be that old. I thought Texas Western won the Championship in 1955.

I believe the year was either 68 or 69 (I'm too lazy to look it up...lol). Riley was indeed on the Kentucky team that lost to them.

I'm not a Rupp fan at all. I'm so glad my man broke his career wins record. Now I just gotta cross my fingers that that crazy sumbich in Lubbock punches or chokes somebody else so they'll fire his arse before he breaks it.

One my students did a report on this team for Black History Month some years ago. It amazed me that so few people knew about it.

I may go see it this weekend, since my original plans got shot to isht. :rolleyes:
 
ESPN showed this using old news clips and interviews a last year on Classics.

That mess was a trip the way they got treated.

They had this old reporter that was talking about covering the game between Texas W and Kentucky.

Dude said all the whites were pi$$ed saying that:

I recall my dad talking about this game many times as well. He says he'll never forget how pissed Rupp was after that game. :lmao: He says Rupp almost used a racial slur during the post-game interwiew. :shh:

I'm sure it was sweeeeet!

This is a must see movie for everyone, especially our young athletes.

I saw it last night and it was a extremely good movie. Can't wait till it comes oout on DVD, this is a must have movie for the collection.

Pat Riley was the only UK player that shook the hands of the Tex West players at the end of the game - which pissed Rupp off big time.
