Gimmie Back my ring Snowbunny!

if that's wholesale, then retail is higher...but don't know about another diamond calculator...I'll let you google it. I've done my part to add to the discussion...

Wholesale means least third party or straight from the distributor, but I'm pretty sure it is a lot higher than the return value. In most cases, most dealers like hoodwinking buyers into believing that they are buying a diamond at wholesale value. I'm pretty sure there's not an internet calculator for used diamonds, therefore can you take one of your diamonds back to the store you purchased it from and see what you can get for it? Thanks!!!! :D

There is really no such thing as a used diamond.

What a jeweler is going to do is buy this diamond from him at the wholesale price, take it out of the setting, polish it up, place it a new setting and sell that same diamond to the next sucker for $785,000. The next person who buys that diamond will not be told it had been purchased and worn before.

The markup from wholesale to retail of diamond rings is usually 100% (or more).

But, you're right, nobody who is knowledgeable about the jewelry business is going to give him the retail price of the ring. The best he can hope for is the wholesale price of the diamond.

The worst thing about this is he could have bought that diamond at wholesale price himself. Bought a setting for around a $1000 and had the diamond placed in that setting by a jeweler. He could have gotten the same ring for a little more than $400,000.

Going into a store and buying a diamond ring is one of the worst ripoffs out there. We just don't know and many men get taken advantage of every year. I was one of them. It'll never happen again though. :shame:

You are right, there no such thing as a used diamond, but no dealer will give anyone that just walk in his or her store the value of a diamond that was purchased from a jewelry store. I too got ripped off in my first marriage, but knowing my ex, she probably sold it to support her drinking habit. I'm glad it only cost around $1,000. Twice a damn fool is crazy.

You're absolutely right. The best he can hope for is wholesale value. Which is 50% or less than what he paid for it at the store.

yep and wholesale is less than retail...and nope...me and my diamonds are good! But the point is: If you say that is a wholesale calculator and its coming up with nearly the same prices as what he paid...the diamond must NOT be overpriced in his case.

I hope he has learned his lesson from this ordeal. A few hundred dollars should be enough for a ring. With the life style he is living, no woman should complain, ring or no ring.

780K for that?
and she still bounced on him?
this can't be real life....can it?

where you been Tony? This ain't the first snowbunny black men been crazy over that ain't all that cute and its not the first one they dropped millions on that ;makes them seem like Class A fools of the year. :noidea: Bruhs and snowbunnies = BEEN making bad decisions.

Okay, I give up....I'm sure you want everyone to believe as you believe, but toilet paper is worth more to me than some diamond. At least I can get a good wipe out of it. :emlaugh:

This broad admitted she was in it for the $$. Got hers and bounced like a bad check.

Well...they apparently DO think this way...so if that = mental...they crazy as a road lizard X 10

After he dropped almost a million...she quit him. He says she had no plans to marry him...was just golddigging...no shit Sherlock! :xeye:

Well it is better than half later. LOL. He should thank her, after he gets his ring back that is. She was dumb as hell. She should have gone ahead and married that fool.

He will get close to what he paid for the DIAMOND itself. Like others have said the setting it's in may not be worth anything. But one of those big time jewelers in Houston including the one he bought it from will take it back. You are talking about a different level of diamonds than what the rest of us have dealt with. LOL. The jeweler isn't going to tell the next sucker it was used. LOL.

She probably didn't want to live in Buffalo and moved on to the next athlete in Houston. LOL. You know she was getting around. He wasn't the only one hitting that.

Okay................

Yep...and amazingly, not one dude has called a golddigging skank bytch yet....

She is a gold-digger by all accounts. But she is actually kind of stupid not to go through it. She must have a better back up plan. Or she is the dumbest Becky I have seen. You at least marry the mofo and then bounce after you done got access to the money as wifey. Oh well.

Okay................

Don't know why you don't believe us. I got a frat bruh who paid 6K for one when he got married and when he upgraded his wife's ring, he got all of it back on the next diamond/ring. So all he had to do is pay the difference. As a matter of fact he got it at Nazars in Houston. LOL.

Do you honestly think jewelry dealers are in the business to break even or lose money? The jewelry business is just like walking into a casino, there are a few that might win a little, but in most cases, the house will always have the odds in its favor. No matter at what level, consumers are always getting ripped off when it comes to diamonds, especially Black folks.

They already make money man from the outset. LOL. The high end jewelers want to keep folks coming back. Not all black folks get ripped off. My frat bruh is a Patent Attorney and very skilled in negotiations. LOL. Maybe some dumb ball player may get ripped off. You think your President would get ripped off if he went to a jeweler?
