And they said that this battle took place in ATL......I can't believe it. :smh:

How in the middle of a song, you Playing a song and coming down the stairs as a band at the same time... NEVER seen nuthin like it:confused:

looks like this was after a parade and the band director was gone... I see a student conducting.... A band director cant really control what goes on after a parade if there are no buses involved. If a couple of bandmembers decide to stick around, no telling what you see/hear.

First of all, as a resident of the ATL, and a lover of high school and college bands, let me just say
that this is not representative of the "normal" behavior of the majority of bands in this area.
However, you know how it can be; a select group challenges another and before you know it,
you have a bootleg mini battle of bands. The fact that there does not appear to be a director,
anywhere, tells me all that I really need to know.....:smh:

Next, my bigger concern is, is that what "they" see, when they see "us" (college marching bands)?
If not, where does this stuff come from and why. If so, then shame on us all...:smh:

There really are no words for some of what I heard and saw in that clip....:smh:

:lmao: Oh wellllllll, looks like those kids enjoyed themselves!!!!! :lmao: :lmao:

Exactly...the kids are just having fun. I think we tend to get carried away using the term "ghetto" when referring to our own when it really should not apply.

IMO, that term doesn't apply here.

.. The fact that there does not appear to be a director,

Exactly. While these children might have enjoyed themselves, they proved how immature they are and why they need adult leadership. I wonder if the director still has that job.

  1. If we ain't going to the parade on buses, then we ain't performing as a band.
  2. If we are performing at a parade, then we have at least a 20-to-1 ratio of students-to-chaperones or we ain't going.
  3. We have a roster of every student on every bus. The chaperones will ensure that everyone who came with us is going home with us or accounted for by his parent/guardian having met with the director at the event in order for that child to be released.
  4. If we ain't performing as a band, then take off the band shirt. That shirt and the "uniformity" of what we are wearing says that we are there as a band.
  5. If we are there as a band, then we are representing the school, the school district, our communities, and all of those people and businesses who support us with their contributions.
  6. If the group decides to travel back downtown and put on an unauthorized show, then they had better not be using school-owned instruments.
  7. If even one of them decides to commit a crime...
  8. If someone decided to start a fight with them...

If the band director is on administrative leave, then you can find him at the warehouse shelving books and praying that he will once again be able to teach children SOMEWHERE.

Even though the kids were having fun, due to lack of appropriate supervision, an all out brawl could easily have occurred, especially if one of the opposing band members decided to "start" something, but thank goodness that didn't happen.
Nevertheless, these kids will probably remember this day for the rest of their lives!! They were having a ball!! Ain't mad at 'em.

That's the difference from New Orleans bands especially St.Aug to an Atlanta High School Band. Where is the discipline? I dont care if was before or after a performance, you would have never in your life caught a member of "100" acting like that. The marching bands in New Orleans battle before every parade in a very respectable manner to the people watching and the other bands.

Oh please... more than likely this is after the Jamboree that they have at the Phillips Arena. And you only note ONE band, same way I could say youd never see SWD, SHS, or RHS acting like this.

 to St. Augustine and all of the NO bands for being the most disciplined well behaved at all times under any circumstances....KUDOS! Yall are the best! Whew....yes lawd yall is  ALWAYS.

ATL bands have no discipline....none'of them :xeye:, and they are rude and vulgar (thanks Noise Talka). They dont know how to act in public and have know home training. The bands their are a disgrace!

Can we close this thread now haters.
