Gas tops $4 per gallon average for 1st time since 2008

What are you smoking?

I apologize, you like most Americans don't understand basic economics or the law of supply and demand. Its sad that our education system does not teach people basic economics. Like Whoopi G. said, "if you keep the people stupid, they wont know any better"

I understand the economic system. But, I am going off what the people in our community said to the masses.

Man take your ignorant azz on some where. Only idiots believe that gas has something to do with a president. Let me guess you believe the Key Stone pipeline has something to do with it don't you?

But, when 45 was in office. I saw black people everyday screaming to get him out of office. Now, we have Biden in office, and you can't even get a simple passed. Buy, other groups are getting tangible.

Hell, they have given Ukraine over 650 millions dollars for defense. But, they got every excuse in the world for black people.

I can't believe this is happening under The Biden ADMINISTRATION. But, elections do have consequences, right?
You can't Biden for this one, blame American car manufactures! Americans are driving huge gas guzzling SUVs and Trucks. Name one fuel efficient car manufactured by Ford or GM? Driving gas guzzlers have consequences; an increase in the demand for fuel. ;)

Time to STOP watching Fox News.

You want to talk about us being screwed over pay attention to WHO is really doing that.

We got that OTHER party trying to censor and jail educators over stuff that is NOT happening in schools.

We have BILLS being passed based on NO EVIDENCE or FACT by WHICH PARTY?????

In some states I could be put in jail for recommending The Loud House graphic novels to kids. Because that is considered ADULT material because Clyde has 2 DADS.

Is that Biden's fault too???

Thus is a bunch of BS. There is no need for us to be going through this with gas. Anyway these oil companies can fund to increase their profits they will. Any wars or rumor of ears prices go up because war is good for business. Gas is a problem but the oil companies fight energy efficiency tooth and nail ( and congresslets them get away with it)? How much oil or gas are we getting from Russia? Did we take Iraq so we could get their oil? Don't we have emergency reserves here?

This $4 is supply and demand with the oil companies using it to make up for that 2020 year. And they are doing it with ease too. Blame anything going on to increase it. Lord knows how they bump the prices when a hurricane hits the gulf. Now they using a war in non oil rich nations to do it. Damn.... its all about that almighty dollar dollar bill.

Yep. I think we American consumers need to take a look in the mirror. We do stupid stuff that helps drive the price of gas up. For the life of me, I do not understand why anyone would sit in a line at the drive-thru with gas prices being as high as they are. Now I understand that drive-thru is only a fraction of the gasoline we use, but still.............

Good point

This is all just a money grab. Gas has no business rising like this. I'm willing to bet the entire gas process costs less than a dollar to complete. Everyone has to get their cut, trying to make way more than triple what they put in. The politicians could stop this mess but the companies are greasing their palms while they sell all types of lies to us and we eat them up.

Cost to make gas

Crude oil is produced worldwide from various locations, such as tradition oil wells, deep-sea (ocean) wells, oil shale fracturing, and Canadian tar sands. The cost to produce a barrel varies from about $20 per barrel in Saudi Arabia’s desserts to $90 per barrel for some deep-water wells. Example the crude cost is $1.39 per gallon
Cost to refine gasoline varies between $.40 and $.70 per gallon, depending on whether summer or winter formulas are being used. In the example above, the cost to refine gasoline is $.60 per gallon. The cost to refine diesel is $.49 per gallon.

In the example above, the cost for gasoline transportation and marketing is $.27 per gallon. Diesel, since it is a heavier product, requires higher transportation and equipment costs. In this example, diesel distribution costs $.49 per gallon.

Excise taxes, which are used for the building and repair of roads and highways, are levied at both the national and state levels. Traditionally, federal taxes are allocated to the states, which combine them with their collections for highway improvement projects. Gasoline taxes in the example above are $.46 per gallon. Diesel taxes are higher ($.52 per gallon) because most diesel is used by heavier trucks, which cause more wear and tear on highways.

In this example gas is $3.04. The crude oil and refining is what costs the most. Only thing that tends to stay static is the taxes.

Also, you blame Donald Trump for an increase in the demand for fuel = increase in fuel prices.

Trump administration rolls back Obama-era fuel efficiency standards

The Trump administration on Tuesday rolled back an Obama-era law that pushes automakers to produce more fuel efficient vehicles, severely limiting a rule designed to decrease pollution from transportation in the face of climate change.

The new rule cuts the year-over-year improvements expected from the auto industry, slashing standards that require automakers to produce fleets that average nearly 55 mpg by 2025. Instead, the Trump rule would bring that number down to about 40 mpg by 2026, bringing mileage below what automakers have said is possible for them to achieve.
