Four Teams: SWAC Championship


PV should have the WEST on lock with maybe GSU as a threat. In the EAST, if I HAD to pick right now I would probably pick BAMA State first followed by JSU and then Alcorn. Say what you want but Alcorn's coaching won't be up to par. If you look at Alcorn's coaching staff from just two years ago, you might find two of the same coaches. Then, they have a bad QB. BAMA State should be ahead of JSU right now just based on scheme. I think we have better talent but their players should be more on the same page with the coaches.
 



Alcorn has more continuity than giving credit for. I say this because we kept the coaching schemes intact. It would have been harder if we didn't maintain continuity.

I disagree with that. In about two years, Alcorn will be totally out of the picture and the EAST will be JSU vs Alabama State again.....

Bruh real talk what makes you feel like your 2016 team will be better than ours? I'll give Alabama State a nod bcuz for the most part there staff stayed intact.

I feel like we can beat Alcorn because I honestly think your coaching took a step down while ours went a notch up. You struggled with bad JSU teams the last two years so I have no doubt that we will be two TDs better than Alcorn this year. As for the rest of the schedule, I think JSU and Alcorn will fare about equally... BUT the tie breaker will be when we beat you. The Alabama State game will be key for BOTH of us. No smack at all but I am not remotely concerned with losing to Alcorn this year.

Also, I see Hopson as your McNair. Alcorn needs an "ace" to be good. Once that "ace" is gone, your wins are gone. You had your whole staff when McNair left but Jones didn't have his "ace". Right now, you have a good amount of your players left but your "ace" is gone. ... and Footman is not a good QB...and your secondary took some hits.
 
I personally agreed with the firing of Robert Hughes and Rick Comegy but I didn't approve of either replacement. Comegy should have replaced Hughes. JSU has Ivy and we have an OC who likes to run the ball. Ivy will have a great year in a system like that. Then we have two solid back-ups for Ivy. I don't know a time recently when JSU has had 3 good QBs.

You have your opinion and I have mine again I don't know what you do or don't have but you guys brought in an OC that hasn't faired well against us an again our schemes didn't change. We will be a damn good team this year one that will be capable of winning another title this year.

OK, I agree with you about SUs OC vs Alcorn. However, ANY OC is better than the one we had. And we know you can't compare teams. You all were dropping 50 on SU but you couldn't drop 50 on us. SU was dropping 50 on JSU but couldn't score on y'all.

This is what you need to consider. JSUs defense keeps your offense in check so that is what you really need to focus on. You ran all over SUs defense. Even in Lorman the last time, you all scored two of your TDs when Ivy went out. So if you want to compare apples to apples.. let's compare JSU vs Alcorn games. When you look at that objectively, I think all JSU has to do is move the ball better. Germany, in MY opinion, is a better OC than Chang so if we can manage one or two more TDs vs Alcorn, we will steal your soul! lol

Really dude?! And where on God's green earth has the staff at JSU now won any games while they were together..........?

Then you go on all these "if" factors and had this happened and we needed rain and snow so on.... Jesse Ventura should give you a call to start his show back up cause you damn sure be coming up with some theories but they are far from conspiracy. Yall just been sucking and taking Ls. Cause the truth is JSU will need two more years of trying to get adjusted to a new coach and new scheme. So that will be another two years of taking Ls!

I believe he's looking at Bama St. as the only one at the top of the East not having a coaching staff change. This would be the best time to take the East.
 



Keep looking past SU if you want to. Most could not handle their offense and they took steps to improve defensively. If that happens, good luck.

My picks .... East ... Alcorn and Bama State. -- Alcorn comes back with talent and the core of their staff is there. They didn't lose everything. Bama State needs to get over the hump, seriously.
West ... PV, Southern, and Grambling. -- PV has a good squad, but must get by Grambling, Southern, I talked about above and I believe defensively they will be better. Grambling has to continue what they did last year, period.

I'll say this it's a rivalry game some a lot of things stats recorded ect. can be thrown out the window. You go back to the year Ivy got hurt and truth be told we lost that game bcuz of turnovers which is something we never seemed to correct under Hopson. You guys had to pull out all the stops trick plays included. I'm not saying we are a lock to win but I definitely like our chances and for you to think that bcuz Hopson is gone that we will fall is ridiculous. We are running the same schemes but other ingredients will be added to those schemes to make them better.

You saying all of this to say what? Big Worm didn't keep his whole staff he inherited and he won the SWAC after going 4-7. GSU put a new staff together and went 7-4. JSU is not as bad as SU was or as bad as GSU was. But you are right, there are a lot of what if's ion this. But who says it takes two years to get adjusted to a new scheme? YOU are just coming out yo azz with that! Remember when Alabama State fired LC Cole two weeks before the season. Their new coach came in, whooped FAMU in Detroit and either won the SWAC or went to Bham. The simple fact of the matter is that JSU has a coach the fans are behind... and when that happens, you all are in trouble! Even after James Bell, JSU went right back to winning.

But this is all rhetoric.... see what you have to say in December!

I've said more than once...I'm happy for Alcorn. One hit wonders don't concern me. You still 2-3 vs JSU in the last 5 years and 4-6 vs JSU in the last 10. That trend will continue. We are about to win three straight in Lorman!

I basing it off the fact that Alcorn lost a lot of starters and half of our staff. Jackson St. lost a good bit of their staff and is changing systems. So this is the year for yall to do it. But the hard part about that is that 80% of the teams that will be a threat to beating you are on the road. This will also be the year for Jenkins to prove himself at Alabama St. Alabama St. always had talent. I said that because Alcorn and Jackson St. will both be in a lot better shape next year than this year.
