Which four teams from the East and West have the best chances of being in the SWAC Championship game.

West
GSU
Prairie View

East
Alcorn
Jackson State

I really had to wonder about both East and West. The west will be resolved long before the Bayou Classic. GSU will beat PV in a tight one. While PV will beat SU.

The East I'm really concerned with because I wondering will Alcorn have the same fight without Hopson. I think JSU will put up a good fight in the East. Now my question is how will Alabama State play.

SWAC Media Day is next Friday... The predicted order of finish should be released.. *snicker*

Give me Prairie View vs. Alcorn/Alabama State in the SWAC Championship.

GSU/SU - Fobbs has proven to be a good head coach. If the QB position is solidified then they shouldn't miss a beat. Plenty of transfers that will add decent depth to an already talented roster. If the defense improves any they will be hard to beat. SU should have a team full of experience this year. They return a lot of talent offensively. Will the defense be up to Par though. They picked up a few defensive coaches from A&Ts staff but not sure how good they will be since they weren't coordinators. I didnt choose PV because of what they lost. I'm sure Simmons has reloaded and will always put up some points. I definitely wouldn't be shocked to see them win it all. I also like the staff TxSu has assembled (don't sleep on em).

JSU/Bama state - I don't see Alcorn being as good as they were. They lost a lot of talent. Head coach and defensive coaches are gone. Too many GAs filling some of those vacancy. Coaching matters hence our decline from going 8-1 in 2013 to 3-6 the last two years (with basically the same team). We upgraded our staff in every phase. Recruited for speed which was something we've been lacking the past couple years. Brought in a good class of RBs (we know we can throw/the running game, mostly due to scheme, has been nonexistent). Got 2 good backups at the QB position with Lyles and Adam's just in case Ivy goes down. Just like SU this team is now full of experience and should finally have the coaching to match. Bama state finished 5-4 last year and has a proven head coach at the helm. Jenkins brought in a pretty good class to make up for what the hornets lacked last year. They should still be sound on defense without Hendricks. They finished last season 2nd in the conference with points allowed per game now they just need the O to match the D. With a recruiting season under their belts I'm sure Orlando will have them up to par.

I do believe there is a LOT of parity in this years rendition of SWAC football. I give the edge to NO one team. Period.

These schools football squads and coaching staff scares Bewild, in no particular order:

1. Alabama St
2. Alcorn St
3. JSU
4. AAMU
5. MVSU
6. sTu
7. SU
8. GSU
9. UAPB [watch our game vs UAPB last fall and look @ their returning playmakers - don't let the score fool you ] ::read::

I do like our unnanounced incoming txfers that will fill in those holes, esp @ the RB position since the departure of graduated Mr Hebert. I'm not sure if all were aware or not but our center on last falls' team was not a natural center. We actually have a REAL center this upcoming fall, if all goes as planned + 10 hungry starters on defense return w/ depth. ::read::

I honestly think it's going to be JSU vs gramfam. I know sum Dnt believe in JSU right now but let's not forget JSU wasn't far off. They just had coaching problems. They still fault hard in most games with a bad coaching staff and I mean baaaaaad coaching staff. Even at the offensive level Coach Chad Germany has 100 times more experience than Timmy Chang.

The East is going to be the battle to the end. The West will come down to GSU or PV.

One small problem dog j st don't have the personal Southern has.

I do believe that It is going to come down to 6 teams.

Alabama St. - returns whole staff and loses Duhart. Only plays 1 threat at home and that is Jackson St. Must go to Alcorn, Southern, Prairie View, Grambling, and MCC. If they lose 3 of those games they are out.

Jackson St. - a whole new staff with a lot of talent left over from last year. Changing offensive and defensive staff. Get Southern, Grambling, and Prairie View at home. Must go to Alcorn and Alabama St.

Alcorn - lose a lot of defensive staff and some offensive staff. Also lose a lot of starters. Get Jackson St., Alabama St., and Southern at home. Must go to Grambling and Prairie View. New players and coaches staff will have to get it together early if they want any chance to repeat. .

Southern -lose a lot on defense and changing defense to a 4-3. Get Alabama St. at home but travel to Prairie View, Jackson St., Alcorn, and BC. Offense must win it for them this year or it will be a long year.

Prairie View - Keeps same staff but lose a lot in the run game and the OL. Get Alcorn, Southern, and Alabama St. at home. Play Jackson St. and SFC on the road.

Grambling.- Keeps same staff but lose a lot on defense and Johnathan Williams. Get Alcorn and Alabama St. and Home. Must travel to SFC, BC, and Jackson St.

I give Prairie View and Alcorn the best chances. I give Southern and Alabama St. the worst chances in going to the SCG.

Not the entire staff they lost Hendricks - DLine and special teams coach.
