Former JSU Band Directors, Where are they now?

Volume: the degree of loudness or intensity of sound.
Power: the amount of noise most SWAC bandsmen confuse with volume. Just kidding.

Power is the might to move something; the source or means of supplying energy.
Energy- The amount of work used to perform a given task.
In order to produce a sound, you will have to use energy to produce power so you can get the volume or sound that you are trying to accomplish. If all of this is done correctly, you will have a GREAT sound. I think this is what Mr. Adams taught the band when he was at JSU with Taylor. In conclusion; a dam'n good SOUND!

I love physics.

Wow! If JSU could keep its talented band directors and alumni on staff at JSU, they would be awesome!

Re: Former JSU Band Directors and JSU Band Alumni, Where are they now?

Why didn't yall give the credintials for Paul Adams Like you did for all the others? Paul Adams is an Alumnus of Southern University where he was a member of the Human Jukebox, an arranger and assistant band director, and a mentee of Dr. Greggs.
That would explain his greatness better than the information that you have provided.

It probably was copied and pasted from the Norfolk State website.

You do know that's from NORFOLK's website, don't you? This information is not from JSU or a newspaper. The information that's on THEIR website is more than likely what the directors themselves included and/or approved--- especially since it represents them (with their own photo).

So, you need to take that up with Adams himself for either not including his alma mater or for not correcting Norfolk's webmaster for leaving it off.

And another thing: Somebody like Adams would have been GREAT no matter what school he graduated from. SU benefitted from having HIM, just like JSU! His "greatness" came from God, not an institution of higher learning.

who posted it here????

JSU folx.

This was posted last month, and you just now saying something.

Norfolk has an awesome band! I don't see where JSU folks are trying to "take NSU's thunder" since HONDA is over. They are getting their props. We can't help it if they got 3 talented directors on staff that have ties to JSU.

And since AFTER HONDA, it wasn't a JSU person who brought this thread back up to talk about JSU ties to NSU.

I guess if your name is "JSU" (the person that started the thread) you may or may not be from Jackson State University.

Man, what's your point? So what if he started the thread?
I don't see where he or any us, JSU folks, are or were trying to take anything away from NSU.

Had some AAMU person been director at NSU, you mean to tell me, you all wouldn't let the board know? Ummmmmmmm, Right!
You're reaching for something that's not even there.

okay, you win.

NSU has nothing to do with JSU.

I am still trying to figure out what is so good about NSU. I will admit that I have NEVER seen them in person but from the clips I see, the sound is there but a part of Honda is field show. All NSU does is stand in place (basically) and play. Their marching and dance routines leave a lot to be desired. They do sound good though.

Because they have SU/JSU Fomer Assistant Director Paul I. Adams...
9JSU) William Bethea and Stephanie Sanders (Former Sonic boom Sax player/ Alcorn Assistant Director)........................

Their sound is what we're impressed with.

I refuse to believe the people who make up the crowd at the GaDome were impressed with sound if NSU gave their typical "put you to sleep" field show. The impression I am getting is that they were good all around and THAT would be a rarity for NSU.

Also, where was that sound when those directors were at JSU. I guess Liddell was holding them back or something. Maybe that is why they left.

Man, what is your point? When I said "we" were impressed with their SOUND, I'm talking about BANDHEADS (those who know music--- like the opposite of you). I'm NOT talking about the masses that were in the dome.

I am just understanding that. The way you guys were talking is like the crowd was "wowed". But it wasn't that. Bandheads were "wowed" that they could stand in place and play music....LOL

Too bad he doesn't credit ya'll on the NSU website.

No need to; he knows, we know, you know.

We are not out here craving to see our name and past/present affiliations here and there and everywhere.
The man is talented....nuff said....

Carry on ....
