I would think Sanford and Son, Steve Harvey, Flip Wilson , Cosby,Soul Train, The Apollo, Different World, Urkel, and Fat Albert are a few that might be included. I know that I am leaving out some but that TV Guide show that airs tonight doesn't do us justice. Which shows would be on your list?

* JSU*Toi, A Different World is my all- time favorite, but a spinoff can never rank higher than that which it comes from. Especially since it was derived from the most watched show in television history.

2. The Jeffersons (Roxie Roker/Lenny Kravitz lived up the street from me)
3. New York Undercover
4. Sparks
5. Sanford and Son
6. The Cosby show (I went to school with Malcom Jamal Warner)
7. A Different World

9. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

I don't know about the spinoff thing Stormy. "The Jeffersons" was a spinoff to "All In The Family". I know "AITF" was a good show, but frankly, I liked "The Jeffersons" more, and it had a long, prosperous run on CBS.

Not to mention, "Family Matters", was a spinoff to "Perfect Stangers", with Bronson Pinchot. We all know that Steve Urkle, went a whole lot further, than whatever Pinchot's character went.

Let's not forget the run "The Simpson's", & "Frasier", are on. Seeing that "The Tracy Ullman Show", didn't last on network television, and though "Cheers" was a good show, "Frasier" is kicking mucho rump.

I feel you on that, I liked The Cosby Show, but I watch reruns of A Different World everyday.

But it depends on the person...

jelli, I know the show you're talking about. I like it too. I think it's "Hope Street", or "number-number-number Hope Street".

Too bad it didn't have a long shelf life.

I am suprised that FRANK'S PLACE did not make any one's list. That has to be my all time favorite black show. I just wish it had ran longer.

Very True Nice I hadn't thought about Family Matters/Perfect Strangers connection (That's a shining example). But in terms of Cosby Show/A Different World connection my opinion remains. The Cosby Show is the Most watched show in Television History, and not even my love for A Different World can ignore such superiority.

I FEEL YA, STORM!!! Well, take out Family Matters & put in Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and I TOTALLY feel ya. :tup:

Man, there have been some great Black shows out there, but most of 'em are sitcoms. I sure am glad for ones like NY Undercover, City of Angels, Chicago Hope, and Soul Food to show we can do more than just funnies!
