emphasis is placed more on football now in Louisiana and the talent who used to be good did not come back to the state once they had kids.
The lab schools used to have killer talent but that disappeared in the 90s
What's funny is they used to be a basketball school. Even if Dale Brown underachieved at times. He still had top flight talent and you had to respect them. Now they may lose the big game. But otherwise they were always pretty good. Kentucky and LSU had some humdingers back in the day. Kyle Macy vs Ethan Martin at the Point were classic.
Where the hell is the LA HS basketball talent going these days? Both SU and LSU would stay stacked. Even Tulane was decent.
Johnny Jones, LSU basketball coach was a real high profile Louisiana basketball player before he got to LSU. If memory serves me correctly he played for the Derrider Dragons (close to Lake Charles). I could never get into LSU basketball because they always were competing in the same class as S.U.
I agree Louisiana college basketball isn't as exciting as it once was. I remember Ethan Martin, Scales, Al Green and a host of others. But at the time S.U. and Alcorn's talent wasn't too far behind. If memory serves me correctly one year that group barely got pass Alcorn and S.U. was just as good. We had Pop and Tommy Green along with Frankie J. Sanders, Collie Davis and Lionel Garret and those boys could really ball. Then later we had Tony Murphy and Alvin Jackson that basically replaced the Green boys and let me tell you those were some bad boys.
I kind of got a little interested in LSU basketball when they landed Shaq O'Neil, Stanley Roberts and Chris (from Gulfport can't remember his last name). But yes, Dale Brown was a master motivator and really had some "barn burners" against Kentucky back in the day. Both LSU and S.U. really had guys from out of state a lot though that were either starring or complimenting LA. players. I am not sure though why LSU and S.U. programs fell so hard. It seem like after Jobe upset GA. Tech in 93, S.U. program really fell hard.

Me either...but I want to see Coach Johnny Jones do well and win!

Scotlandville is loaded, and the Martin kid from Madison prep LSU just signed, BR has ballers. SU is back, I'm telling Banks has built a program in 1 year.
You must have never saw Jobe's teams lol. They tried to get a shot off every six seconds. I can tell you now, SU will have the top HBCU basketball signing class.Jag-BR
Watching the Jags against Alabama state. Those kids don't ever stop running.
I don't remember Carl Stewart or Ben Jobes team running as much as Banks team.
Do you think this will hurt recruiting? Man it's conditioning and running if you want to play for Banks.

Just returned from Baton Rouge.
Coaches state that the reason for the exodus is that LSU is over stocked.
Besides the usual attrition nothing unusal.
Some guys want to play and are moving on looking for some playing time.
Like I said, you dont even have to go to twitter:

Why are you all hating on the Kids that go to LSU? They get a chance to get a free education and possibly go to the league. That's a positive outlook.
