Congrats to gSU and even jSU!!

Now you know I can't help but notice that of all the teams ranked, SU played the "G", J-State, Northwestern St. and Nicholls St. If you add the Hawaii-bound Tulane Green Wave, I would say that our AD really screwed us with the early games!!! Hopefully with the SWAC mandate, we won't have to have such schedule stupidity in the near future, but ...you never, really know!!!!!

YOUR 2003 SCHEDULE WILL ALLOW FOR A GOOD RECORD.
 
What difference does it make if you are ranked. We don't compete for the champioship so the rankings actually don't mean anything. And before you Grambling people say I would not be saying this if Jackson State was ranked, the same thing goes for us to if we are not competing for the championship.

Man, you need to tell us who they are playing for crying out loud. We need to know. It's time to start the 2003 smack. Did they steal Langston from Gram??

...Competing for the Division I-AA Championship is not the "sole" purpose for being "ranked"...take off the tunnel vision(hateration) "blinders" and think about this before you respond...currently three teams in the SWAC have no chance for the playoffs due to games being scheduled during Thanksgiving week...this is not so with the other seven(7) teams who can receive an "at-large" bid if they are "ranked" high enough and are not participating in the SCG...While the rankings seem meaningless, they serve a very valid purpose for our fans, school and alumni...(not to mention all levels of the coaching staff who are trying to upgrade resume's for future opportunities)...since I am from Grambling, I'll use the "ICON" as the example...when we played Portland State in 2001, they were ranked(as was GSU)...therefore it made for an excellent marketing tool for both schools participating in an "initial" Classic...the result was a near sellout...later during the season when the "ICON" played Nicholls State it also helped the regional interest by getting the game televised on FoxSportSouthWest...while the rankings may not have had a direct impact on getting the game televised it was a plus in getting many folks out to the game...this year(2002) it certainly helped the attendance in Lake Charles and I am sure it will help the town of Grambling(in 2003) when #2 meets #8 on the 30th of August...on the national level it is a valuable tool particularly when you are playing out-of-conference teams...which brings me to the conclusion that not only are the rankings useful for the above mentioned groups but they are also the "springboard" to receiving numerous other awards/ recognition for your prospective team...ie>>Division I Black College Champion...SBN Champion...and lastly, if the rankings do not mean anything are you going to say the same about the National Division I-AA "Team" & "Individual" statistics????

I heard it's worser than the Benedict or the New Haven scheduling.
