Fear of Death or Fear of Loss of Control of Life?

I know what everyone says, "Everyone has to die." But this has been a FREQUENT thought on my mind for years, I'm talking at least 10+ times a day. Specifically, I have these visions of me lying in a casket......over and over again......I feel like I think about it more than the average person. I talked to a pastor at the church I went to in college, but he told me to walk through the cemetary, but I think that will bring more thoughts of anxiety....:xeye: I'll say this, I'm not afriad that I won't spend eternal life with God. My concern is more on the earthly level.

Any new perceptions on death? I sure could use a different outlook that would help me learn to accept death....

is there something you want to know specifically, or
are you just feeling a little down?

I'll try to stay some what "earthly" and say everyone will not die.
When the end comes some people will still be alive, maybe you.

If your death is not painful, and you said you know you'll be with God, then what's the matter?

You ever had surgery? Think of death as Temporarily
going under, only to awake to something more wonderful
than anything you've ever known.

Ladyluck you are human; you fear the unknown. When I was younger I had those same feelings, yet certain circumstances happend to make me appreciate life and understand that I am still here for unfinished business. In short I have faced death, I have even had what most consider an out of body experience. I flipped my truck 6 times and was trapped under water. The rest is personal and I hope you understand.

Also don't waste your time on the things that are present. If you think these things are nice then just think about what God has to offer.

All I can say is that you're human, filled with feelings and emotions. My father, who was a POW in the Hanoa Hilton with John McCain once told me to embrace my fears and understand that my body is only a shell for my spirit; and my spirit belongs to God. I never knew what he meant until something else happend in January of 2003.

Please expound.

An "earthly level" you say?

Are you worried about the people you'll leave behind?

Please continue if you're comfortable....

Agree

If you're in the Lord, death is your friend. Are you sure about your salvation?

Say that again. As much as I hate to qoute a rapper, Method Man said that if he is to die tomorrow he's got caller ID because he's in the Lord.

Don't y'all read?

How 'bout y'all self-righteous know-it-alls start to worry about your own salvation than to question LL's relationship with God like that? She comes here with a legitimate question and the local pharissees turn it into a JV inquisition.

Hassan why don't you ask us why we responded in this manner versus telling us that we are self righteous. I understand where LL is coming from and just wanted to shar my opinion.

Hmm. I've been doing some reading and realized that its common that people fear death, but I think my concern is the unknown (being forgotten after I'm gone/not knowing if I impacted the people who's lives I made an extra effort to). I know it sounds kind of confusing. perhaps it's not coming out the way anyone can understand.

I understand you perfectly and i know you well enough to know that you are impacting people's lives in a very positive way. Thus, you will not be forgotten when your body stops working because the mark you are leaving on people now is not from your body but from your spirit.

Thanks. What a difference typing out your thoughts makes...I'm having a better perception already.... thanks
