Fat Ho Burgers.....yup, that's the name

U beat me to the punch Herb. They'd interviewed her on the local news here in the metroplex and I had TEARS running down my face. :emlaugh: :bawling: When asked why she coined that name she said something like <b>"What? It's just a name... sometimes folk walk up and say look @ dat fat ho! :D"</b> She had a grill and erry'thang. lol Somewhere near her restaurant is a church-themed restaurant named "holy something restaurant" or something or another. Talk about a culture clash.

I hope her burger joint does well and I'll certainly patronize that bad boy whenever I travel Hwy6 for hometown.

Better name for restuarant: Dumb Ho.

Cuz, that's how she's gon' feel in a sec, after naming her BUSINESS that. Maybe, not now...or, the next year...but, she's gonna hate that name at some point.

Even if I were to go and like her burgers...I'd be wondering how long it's gonna last.

The place was loaded with white folk at what seemed like lunch time.

Personally, I think it was a great marketing move. Hell if her joint was named anything else, would we even be talking about it? I've talked to people in Dallas and Austin who are talking about driving to Waco to go to Fat Ho's.

What school did she graduate from? The article says she worked her way through school.

Don't you know there are more Subway chains than McDonald's nationwide? So I don't think this woman needed to stoop to this level to get attention for her product.

I'm not following your Subway/McDonald's analogy. Like I said before, if this business was named anything else would you even be talking about it? How many mom and pop burger joints open up in your city that none of us will ever hear about? Lakita Evans may be rough around the edges, but you can't knock a woman who's started her own business on her own terms. Her customers don't seem to have a problem with it. Hell, Whoopi Goldberg's production company was named "One Ho Productions" and was featured prominently on all of her projects.

Much like a woman. Cute can only take you so far. My thoughts are on the long run of a business in this economy.

At some point the novelty of the title is going to wear off. Yea, sure the name of the place is an instant attention grabber "now". But, after that...what?

If she's doing well in 3-5 years...good for her. I just have my doubts, that's all.

Oh, great now everyone should be happy with the name of the restaurant because Whoopi freakin' Goldberg has a similar name attached to her business. Yep, that is the standard current and future business owners should live up to.

The only reason this woman is getting attention because the name of her joint has a derogatory connotation attached to it. And the sheep think it's funny and a good business idea. It is already bad enough that fast food is unhealthy and contributing to health problems, especially in the black community where fast food joints are more prevalent than grocery stores in many urban neighborhoods. Now we got folks compounding that with stunts like this.

I totally miss your point here.

The point is that the owner/creator of Subway didn't have call the restaurant Fat Ho Subs to have a successful business. Does the name matter to a degree? Sure. But if you are confident in your product and its good, there should be little reason to go this route to make money or because there was an earthquake in Japan, as the chick stated in the news piece.

Y'all ain't missed no point. If your mother or sister or daughter wanted to name their business Fat Ho ____ you'd be doing the happy, happy, joy, joy dance? Naw. You'd be like, "WTF you name it that for?" :xeye:

I heard she went to Jackson State. :lmao:

I betcha the burger goooooooood, I wouldn't making a trip there if I were there (in Waco that is)! Plus I don't think there is any harm in it because she is taking slang and making a marketable name out of it!

Actually I agree with you. We raise all kinds of hell because hip hop "artists" call women derogatory terms in their music but we embrace this woman who has used the term. Suppose she had named it N _ _ _ _ R Burger? Personally, I found it offensive and I am not prude by any stretch of the imagination.

p.s. I heard she went to Jackson State too :lmao:

I'm not going to say much because I don't want to be accused of not liking black people, ho's, fat ho's or hamburgers.

Speak on it ken-dricks. Everyone has a right to their own opinion.

For me, I've already practiced the FIRST sets of questions I'm asking: <b>Which one of deze hoes I'm gonna' buy? lol What kinda' hoe am I havin' tah-day? :D</b>

I make no association between the word "ho" and my female relatives. Howsinever, how I look @ other females, well... Get in where ya' fit in and perception from "others" shouldn't matter in the first place. :D
