Fani Willis said GOP Rep. Jim Jordan's congressional attempt to stop her prosecution of Trump is 'unconstitutional' and said he lacks 'a basic understanding of the law'​



  • In August, Rep. Jim Jordan helped launch a congressional inquiry into District Attorney Fani Willis.
  • She responded on Thursday in a letter, claiming Jordan lacked "a basic understanding of the law."
  • Willis suggested Jordan purchase a $249 law textbook to learn more about how RICO cases work.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis told GOP Rep. Jim Jordan that he lacked "a basic understanding of the law, its practice, and the ethical obligations of attorneys generally and prosecutors specifically" after he sent her a letter in late August "demanding information and communications" and helped start a congressional inquiry of her prosecution against former President Donald Trump.
 

The Trump operatives were trying to capitalize on American ignorance about the difference between family and criminal courts, and the appetite Americans have for salacious gossip and scandals.

All of it was a desperate attempt to manufacture a smear campaign. The media initially took the bait and failed to explain the difference between the different type of courts, and why the very different type of disputes within those courts have nothing to do with one another that will affect the outcome in either court.

With the way she was going on that stand as a witness-I would have went off on her.

She acted almost everyway they tell you NOT to and gave out too much when she should have just said yes or no.

My question? Does this change the outcome of the trial? Will this questioning close the case so that Ms Wills can continue to prosecute Trump?

Judge rules Fani Willis can stay on — if Wade leaves

  • Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee found there was no “actual conflict” brought about by the relationship, but that it created the “appearance of impropriety.”
  • As a result, McAfee ruled that either Willis or Wade must be removed from the case for it to continue. Wade submitted a formal letter of resignation to Willis on Friday afternoon.
  • “Without sufficient evidence that the District Attorney acquired a personal stake in the prosecution, or that her financial arrangements had any impact on the case, the Defendants’ claims of an actual conflict must be denied,” the judge wrote.

Why it matters: The case had been on hold for more than two months due to the saga brought on by Willis and Wade’s tryst. Willis can continue her prosecution of Trump and his associates in Georgia.
