FAMU declares itself ‘national champions’ after 9-3 season


I'm not sure if the Celebration Bowl has been officially named the Black College National Championship game. If it hasn't I'd give it to Bowie State before FAMU. Bowie State ran through its division, conference, and made a deep playoff run.

I did see an NCAA HBCU rating system that showed FAMU at #1. Maybe that is what caused the HBCU Champion declaration.

I think a 4 game system leading up to the Celebration Bowl would be ideal. However, that would certainly dilute the possibility of any team slipping into the FCS playoffs. Also one would have to find a way to get the top 4 teams in the system as opposed to 2 from each conference. The only two that should be guaranteed is the two conference champions. None of the aforementioned will happen, but nothing is wrong with thinking out loud…lol

They have a right to claiming the national title as much as anyone else though their 7-5 body of work is ugly. I wish jsu would have just closed the deal to eliminate this quagmire. The JSU’s loss to South Carolina State was more embarrassing because that was a game JSU should have won. No one gave South Carolina State a chance. South Carolina State did not believe they were going to win.lol. The Rattlers were not prepared to play against SE Louisiana. Giving up the fake field goal TD had me in disbelief. It was apparent that SE Louisiana coaching staff put together the best game plan. I did see some bright spots in the game on defense and a few on offense. McKay could not extend plays and possession with his legs. Also, a few of the wide receivers were bruised up from the BCU game.
The Rattlers may have a QB that can sling the ball and create with his legs in 2022.

It does not matter to me. However, Bowie State is Div II. The Rattler defense would have put them on life support.lol

It has by EPSN as they state it during their broadcast.
There are also agencies that use a combined poll to give out their championship and the are agencies that separate the divisions by Major & Mid-Major.

That is a subjective point of view. I don’t have a dog in the hunt and FAMU loss was humiliating and embarrassing from the moment you guys showed up on the field. You guys should just shut up and stop making a mockery of yourselves.
 
The loss was humiliating and believe me it hurt. However, FAMU will be better in 2022 and our new QB will be able to make plays with his legs if he needs to. The offense and defense are reloading. We have transfers that red shirted in 2021. The Rattlers will be contenders to win the 2022 SWAC East Division and conference championships. Too bad we can’t say the same for the swamp kitties. It had to hurt when my Rattlers slapped the taste out of your swamp kitties mouths and shut them up.

It's asinine for FAMU to claim a NC...

But, look at it from this perspective: if national media is talking about multiple HBCUs and not just one, then it's a win for all of us. Destroys the whole "it's just JSU/Prime" narrative.

Congratulations on your win over S.U. but that doesn’t entitle famu. You guys are coming across as welfare Queen national champs. You didn’t win your division, begged for a playoff birth and proceeded to get monkey stumped. You guys really need to go hide somewhere and try to redeem yourselves next year. Your declaration of being HBCU champs is a nasty stain on the entire brand.

You swamp kitties need to figure out why your All-American defensive end entered the transfer portal. Life is good for FAMU and the Rattlers. Don’t hate instead appreciate! Like I said earlier in this post it does not matter to me. I am focused on the 2022 Football season.
