Florida A&M athletic department officials said Thursday that some student-athletes enrolled between 1996-2003 should have been declared ineligible by the school.
The infractions, which could lead to penalties from the NCAA and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, were discovered during a two-year investigation by the NCAA into the athletic department's eligibility procedures.
Joseph Ramsey II, special assistant to FAMU President Fred Gainous for athletics, said the infractions were listed in a self-report that was submitted to the NCAA and the MEAC for review.
Ramsey said the NCAA and the MEAC would make a final decision after reviewing the report.
Programs which had violations included - but were not necessarily limited to, according to Ramsey - women's basketball, men's and women's track, baseball and softball.
