I 'm the only black writer in the entire county where I work, so I understand that 85 percent you're talking about.

So do you think the media is blowing this up because he is just another black athlete or because he one of the highest-paid players in the NFL?

To be honest, if this was dopehead Favre, they woulda pulled out the "we're shocked at what happened" card and been a lot more sympathetic to Favre's over-the-hill, pill-poppin' arse.

That's the only slight difference between a high-profile black QB like Vick and a high-profile white QB like Favre.

Race wasn't an issue when Jamal Lewis was helping people make dope appointments with his cell phone. Race wasn't an issue when Terrance Keil's dumb arse was shipping lean to Houston through UPS.

Yeah, I did not read too many TSPN people saying the feds are targeting Lewis because he is black.

I think people would have been shocked if it was Favre, but I don't think he would have garnered that much sympathy. But all those Packers' fans would have felt for him though.

Shipping drugs and making dope call is one thing......stupid

Trying to hang Vick from the cross is another......racist

I'm sorry delock, but "trying to hang vick from the cross is another...racist" is totally sacreligious.

But really, what's the difference between Jamal Lewis (who's case seems similar to Vick's in terms of alleged involvment), Terrance Kiel and Mike Vick.

You tell me.

Who's trying to hang Vick from a cross?

Getting involved in illegal dog fighting at your own property w/gang members....stupid.

Hey Legal Beagles

Please help me with this:The AJC is reporting that the Surry County,Va.District Attorney will not seek an indictment of Mike Vick on Tuesday on dog fighting charges. What's the ramifications of this maneuver?
Does this reduce the heat that he should feel and lessen the likelihood of a conviction?

NEW YORK -- Michael Vick was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to stay away from the Atlanta Falcons' training camp until the league reviews the dogfighting charges against him.

Wow, I guess Goodell ain't playing.

Dude, didn't the feds tap Jamal Lewis's cell phone and recorded a conversation with him and ole boy discussing a drug deal. That's a big difference between him and Michael Vick.

Not only that. I think a FBI undercover agent was also involved in the deal. Jamal just got hit with setting up the deal. So you are right, it is totally different. The Feds had their own people as witness and not counting on other evidence to get Jamal. He pretty much was caught. Even though I thought the whole thing took so long for the Feds to come after him. The alledged incident happened before Jamal got drafted or had signed a contract with Baltimore. I think they wanted him to snitch. So in that instance maybe it is like the Vick case. Maybe the Feds want Vick to rat out the rest of the big players in the dogfighting business that he know.

Sidenote......
I bet Big Boi of Outkast and his brother are watching this case. They breed Pit Bulls as well. Not saying they are selling them for fighting purposes. But I am sure they are nervous due to his celebrity status. The Feds will probably be looking at all Pit Bull Kennels to see what is up.

My problem with this is that most Black people will call this racism, since a high profile black athlete broke the law. Black people get so involve with superficial racism concerning pro-athletes that true racism goes undetected. Maybe, if Black people spent just as much time dealing with true racism as they do with superficial racism, there won't be a need to classify everything and everybody racist.

Man, If he is smart he doesnt engange in that type of assinine behavior, but we thought that of Micheal Vick at one point.

Thank you Jag.....nobody in here really talking about the Jena 6 on Small Talk or whatever..and if you look that up...THAT'S REAL ARSE RACISM there!!!!

The race card gets played too many times when it's not even the right card, but too little when it's as obvious as the TSPN at the top of the screen

I read the indictment, and unless Vick starts name dropping pretty dayum fast, he may do some time if the charges stick. His name is all over the indictment from actually killing dogs, to betting on them, to traveling from state to state actually participating in the dog fights, buying dogs to breed, and of course staging fights at the house.

His cousin that stayed at the house full time, looks as if he's actually turned on him, and is saving his own arse at this point, Vick better follow suit if he's interested in his playing career.

It's one thing to say that you only sponsored stuff, but to actually be there, betting, breeding, and killing yourself, he's dayum fool.

Call it racism if you want, but the bottom line, Vick has only himself to blame, and speaking of racism; I'm pissed that the feds are now watching NBA games, and tapping referee's phones for cheating on games. Don't they know there are serial killers, and rapists running around on our streets, that they're wasting our money on somebody cheating on ball games. Schit, they need to find something else better to do with their time.

Shouldn't they be going after the mob for murders, money laundering, and extortion, instead of getting them on gambling. The nerve of the FBI.

NICE

Nice, that is EXACTLY what they want him to do. They have no substantial evidence other than witnesses. They are in the process of trying to build a case.

beans, and those witness statments could be damaging, and even though they're thugs, if they're believable, Vick could be in trouble. Ask Rae Carruth.

Those witnesses have cases pending too. The prosecutor needs more substantial evidence. Something alittle more creditable other than some guys with some drug or weapon's charge on them.

I think there is a lot of hearsay in the indictment, and unless they get video or audio or bank statements or call logs, he will either get a plea deal or acquitted.
