ATLANTA -- In what has quickly evolved into a collaborative effort that includes input of officials from the NFL, NFL Players Association and Atlanta Falcons, embattled quarterback Michael Vick could be urged to take a voluntary leave of absence to focus his energy on the legal challenges from a federal dogfighting indictment confronting him, sources said.

:read: this is some bull. They need to leave Vick alone with this shat. I think it's a crime how the Feds are treating the people of New Orleans. I'm sure the money they are spending on this case could at least help rebuild a few modest homes. Someone should be trying to find out why we're spending billions of tax dollars on a war where american soldiers are dying everyday. We live in a fugged up backwards azz society!

America is screwed up, but that does not mean the feds should overlook a potential criminal act--even if it involves dogs.

Maybe if they took the time to investigate this made up war so many soilders wouldn't have died. I guess dogs are more important.:read:

i agree with Alpha and Cee. i mean it's just getting out of control. i'm not advocating animal cruelty, but come on! Human life is so much more a factor. Aint nobody making ANYONE in the Administration take a leave of absense for killing those soldiers, and they are killing them.

Dogs are not as valuable has human life. But was does war have to do with dogfighting?

What does spending millions of dollars to convict one black qb on dog charges get you, when millions of street thugs are doing it every minute? Where's the national crack down? Are they out on the streets stopping the one going on tonight? O, I get it. It's easier to bring down a black man in the spot light than it is one hustling the streets for a living everyday. No one is saying it's good to fight dogs, but just like them locking Pookie up for selling a rock on the corner, when planes are dropping dope off everyday it's not going to stop it.

I agree also. Where is the rage when all these women, mainly white, molest these kids and get away with it. Every time I turn there's one in the news. All of these so called "hard against crime" loving people sit back and say nothing. It's amazing.

While I think there are many injustices that go on in this country, and are going on in this country, I'm not going to be so quick to say nothing shouldn't be investigated that's illegal, especially something as vial as animal cruelty.

That's like saying, the cops shouldn't be out enforcing traffic violations, and prostitution, because there are so many unsolved murders, and worst things going on, that they shouldn't worry about those minor things.

The laws of the land still have to be enforced no matter what else is going on in our backwards arsed society. We can all cry foul until the moon falls, but the bottom line is, Michael Vick has himself, and only himself to blame for this mess that he's in, we can't get mad at the government, or the state of Virginia for upholding the laws that he broke, knowingly, or unknowingly.

I know it's easy to defend somebody as popular as Michael Vick because he's black, and we put them under "the's being picked on" umbrella, but we have to stop makiing excuses for people who do dumb schit, and put themselves in a position to be phugged with.

NICE

CEE, I agree wholeheartedly with your post, but at the same time, we as people have to do our parts as well with these street thugs. Until the people take a stand in their neighborhoods against the thugs, or actually start giving up names of murderers (other than when it's our family members, friends, or innocent children), the thuggery will continue.

I'm not niave (sp) to think it's easy either, because I'm from the streets, and I know it's tough to rat somebody out, for fear of retaliation, but at some point, we as everyday citizens have to do our part in the justice system as well. The police, and prosecuters can pararde criminals in front a judge all day everyday, but until they actually get witnesses to come forward, this problem will never go away.

I see someone has thought objectively about this. I agree.

I agree with you also D. Now don't get me wrong, I don't feel sorry for Vick and all these other cats putting themselves in bad situations because they made a choice to be there. It's just a sad situation all the way around.

If it was any one of us that got caught doing it we'd already be locked up. Can't say I have much sympathy.

yes i agree, and i'm not saying that it shouldn't be investigated, taken to trail, and if found guilty be held accountable(even though let everyone tell it, he is already guilty). however, i just wish we could get this same type of energy and persistance toward the other issues that contaminate and kill our society. our government regulated media aka the FCC purposely zooms in on these things in order to keep people uninformed on the real issues. they are running Vick in the the ground quicker than the Colts D. there are other things that need to be addressed. the revolution won't be televised though.

The government and the police are fighting crime every day. It just does not lead CNN or Sportscenter. It just so happens that Mike Vick is a prominent name. Just like Paris Hilton is a prominent name. Would you be so passionate about how a black person is treated if he did not play for the Falcons? Just because Vick is being indicted by the federal government does not mean crime fighting has stopped. It does not mean the government has stopped caring about regular people who have terrible trouble in their lives. There are a million problems in this country, it?s hard to pick and choose which one to start with first.

the FCC does not fight physcial crime. and yes because i am tired of hearing about it, period, and so was i about Paris.

i never said it has stopped, i SAID I WISH they WOULD be JUST as PASSIONATE about OTHER ISSUES.

Instead of feds doing real "work" they rather target high profile athletes. Let see??hmmm so far this year Pac Man Jones, Barry <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:PersonName w:st="on">Bon</st1:PersonName>ds, now Michael Vick. Is there a trend?

But, if you really want to fight for animal rights, let?s stop the slaughtering of cows, chickens and pigs. Hell, they are treated far worse. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

They are doing real work. And the idea that they are targeting Vick because he is black is a brainless statement on your part. I look at this case for what it is. A group of people who slaughtered dogs. I don't care if the guys were white or black. I would feel the same way. I'm going to let justic take its course.

I agree with you. I'm just trying to figure out what's the big problem. Bring the man to trial and get over with it. Shat a damn U.S. Senator who ran on a platform of "FAMILY VALUES" is being outed for his relationship with hookers and I don't see the media all over his azz. I mean this man is a United States law/decision maker for this whole damn country and I don't see the ACLU, CNN, FOX, BB KING, CP3, Megatron, or anyone else making a big deal about. I guess we'll see someone from PETA on that Deadliest Catch show next crying about the King crab's are being treated bad.

Calm down, sweetie pie...

I think what ignited this investigation was the fact that the FEDS were originally after his drug dealing cousin and stumbled upon this dog fighting operation during the raid at Vick's home. To put it simple, the FEDS don't play. They make a career on prosecuting high profile cases like this.

I like Vick, I hope he pleads for a suspended sentence. It doesn't look too good right now though.

How is the FBI too passionate about this case? I think they would be just as passionate if Vick was not involved. The only reason every network and newspaper in the country is talking about this is because Vick is involved. That?s the world we live in.

I bet none of you would feel the same way about four average black guys or four white guys getting indicted for the same thing. The media would have the story in the paper and on TV, but I don?t think people on this board would be defending those average guys like they are Vick.

Ok wise one, you are in the media so tell me this.

Like CD stated earlier, why target Vick instead of the thugs on the streets. Better yet, why is this "national news" instead of the missing black girls that have gone unheard of.

It's a damn animal. He paid for it, he feed it, he can do whatever. I still dont see the FEDS trying to crackdown on real schitt....

Now go fetch my info.
