ESPN's College Gameday will be in Jackson this Saturday

I think that this will be the 4th #HBCU related game that College Game Day has attended over the years.
It will be the first time that College Gameday is going live from a SWAC Campus though.

Previous contests include:

- 2005 Bayou Classic (Southern vs Grambling)
- 2008 Hampton at FAMU
- 2021 MEAC/SWAC Challenge (NC Central vs Alcorn State in Atlanta)
Thanks for educating me but I only remember the FAMU one. Vaguely remember the NCCU and ASU one but glad to know more existed.

You're Welcome!

The NCCU - Alcorn State College Gameday served as the kickoff to the 2021 season last year. I couldn't find full video of it but I did located an ESPN pre-show for Gameday and there is also video of Lee Corso's headgear selection. I'll post them below.

Just like we did y'all.
Hold on playa, flag on the play for taunting ! We? You was on the field fighting somebody child too ? Lawd Jesus ! Then the other week you was finna put the paws on a fan with your friend! Lawd we watching a strong upstanding citizen turn into a Baby Blue Crip! Who put you up to this? Was it Doooley !!! I ain’t never ever seen you act like this before!

I don't think ESPN College Gameday ever broadcasted live from a SWAC football game. And JSU vs SU is hands down the liveliest and most heated college HBCU football game ever. Tailgating lit and on point, the fans are PASSIONATE and FULLY ENGAGED (not just spectators), both bands are really good and going at each other all day, locals always come out and support, large crowds everywhere ... it's the standard of what a HBCU athletic event should be.

The Deion effect is still in full effect and positively impacting all of us. I think College Gameday at FAMU some years ago but it was pretty dry and was not a good game to chose. The BoomBox Classic should be a wayyy much better atmosphere than the last one they did at FAMU. Also I hope this helps with recruiting great athletes and students to our schools. When I was coming up, I never saw College Gameday at a HBCU campus.

Also this last week and coming week should do wonders for Jackson's economy. I'm hoping the black business owners benefit the most. SUPPORT BLACK BUSINESSES IN JACKSON, I don't care if it's a hole in the wall. Try to give them a chance to earn your trust before you write them off

Don’t throw no shade on FAMU’s ESPN Game Day.lol.

So it'll be on campus? Or at the stadium?

Just curious... Does anyone know if the Gameday setup will be on the JSU campus or Veterans Memorial Stadium?

@Jag Voice & @tigertrail - I don’t think a decision has been made yet. Besides the announcement, ESPN hasn’t put any more information out there. They will need a VERY LARGE area for setup. I’ve seen that first hand including in Austin, Texas for Bama - Texas earlier this year.

ESPN and JSU officials are probably doing site surveys right now for space accommodations, etc.

Cool, thanks for the info! I'm guessing they'll probably look at (hopefully not) alternative locations in case of , dare I say.........rain.

I'm partial to the stadium since out of town folks will head straight there and will be the site of most fans.
