ESPN Draft Board: Quinn to Vikings at #7.

dude that's just speculation. It makes no football sense for them to pick him. You JUST picked a quarterback in the 2nd round last year. You didn't even give him a chance to prove himself because u had Brad Johnson starting most of the games. The Vikings have other problems that they need to worry about more than quarterback. They need to find somebody for T-Jack to throw to because Williamson just ain't getting it done.

Not good for Tavaris Jackson.

Quinn will be in Cleveland. He will not here in Minnesota. Quinn stock is indeed rising. Also if Childress and Vikes draft Quinn if he is available then that would say to the fans and everybody else that you made a mistake in trading up to get T. Jackson. Childress is already under the gun here for his crass attitude and his stupid play calling so they are going to try to make TJ work unless they have a trade in mind for him.

Getting a WR that can actually catch would make more sense.

What's the fuss about Quinn? I don't think the guy is a good qb at all. Decent, but not good. He was exposed by the speed of LSU and the NFL has a helluva lot more speed than LSU.

If they draft him they are not going to pay him a 8 to 12 $mill.
signing bonus and start Jackson..... period.
If they draft him and pay him they are going to play him. Believe it.

Well, he was exposed because Notre Dame doesn't play much SEC competition. The best comp they play will be Michigan or USC that will compare to the SPEED that LSU brings. If he played for an SEC school, he would probably be more prepared, which he will adjust in the NFL.

He is a top NFL draft pick for QBs this year, no doubt.

Name me one former SEC QB other than Peyton Manning who is a star in the NFL right now?

LOL. Dnice and I always get a chuckle from these folks who talk about SEC speed so much. True that overall team speed is probably the best in the SEC, but if a kid can play, then he can play no matter what conference they come from. It wasn't Brady Quinn's fault that Notre Dame had no team speed to protect him. He is a good QB. All those SEC Qbs that played with all that team speed coming at them has not translated into mass success at the NFL level.

I was wondering the same thing!

Russell and the QB from Stanford are both better than Quinn.

You just invested a 2nd round pick on TJ. Now go get some receivers that can actually catch the Football and DB'S that can actually cover.

If the QB from Stanford is so good how come you don't know his name. If he is so good what top teams has stanford beaten? Why does he get a pass for playing on a bad team and Quinn gets bashed?
Russell stock rose after one game. People seem to forget that Auburn held LSU to 3 points 10 points against Florida and he struggled against Ole Miss and Miss. St. He got fat off playing Tulane,Arizona, Fresno St. and UL- Lafayette. Quinn has gotten better every year he has been in college. I've seen almost all of his games in college and the reason why Quinn has not done well against USC and teams like that is because the offensive line did not play well and the Irish defense did not help either by giving up 350-400 yards a game. It's hard to look good when you have to throw 40 passes because the defense has given up 31 points.

Nah man........Brady Quinn is no where as bad as Leaf. Leaf actually just had maturity issues. Quinn played well under the Notre Dame and media hoopla for most part. I think he will be fine.

Braddy Quinn = Heath Shuler
Braddy Quinn = Akili Smith
Braddy Quinn = Tim Couch

And the Coup de Gras *drum roll please*

Braddy Quinn = .................................Rick Mirer............

Take your pick.

After the debacle in Houston with Mario Williams, there is no way the Browns pass up Brady Quinn if he is there at #3. The fans in the Ohio area will crucify them.

I am more worried about the Vikings drafting a QB in the second round...i.e Drew Stanton, Trent Edwards or even Troy Smith. TJ needs work and he needs support. More competition and someone breathing down his neck to take his job is the last thing he...and the Vikings need.

This draft reminds me so much of the 1997 NFL Draft when everyone was debating between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. I'm not saying either Quinn or Russell will turn out like Manning or Leaf, but the comparisons are similar.
Everyone said Ryan Leaf was this big, strong QB who could throw the ball 75-80 yards and should be the next geat QB. They are saying the same thing about Russell.
Everyone said Peyton Manning could not win the big game, he was overrated and he had already maximized his talent by playing four years in college. They said the same things about Quinn.

I think people on this board should not say that one guy will be great and the other will not. Both QB obviously have the potential to be great QBs in the NFL. They both could turn out like Ryan Leaf. I don't like people who say Brady Quinn will be like Ryan Leaf and Russell will not. No one knows either way.

I think the Vikings may draft a Qb as well but not high. But in reality, the Vikes need a veteran backup who knows his starting days are over and accepts that fact. So look for them to pick up a guy like that.

are u serious??? Dude how many folks put up alot of points against Quentin Groves, David Irons, and the rest of that defense??? You see what Florida's defense did to supposedly high-powered Ohio State, so what the hell are u talking about? Those are two of the top defenses in the nation. You are lying about that Mississippi State game, because he straight dissected State in the first half of that game. They KILLED State last year in Baton Rouge.

How about Brady Quinn will be like Rick Mirer? Is that better?

You are reaching Beans. Mirer came out of a non throwing ND system. Quinn is way more polished than Mirer. Mirer was a gifted athlete that got hyped at ND and they won some games. Mirer was mobile. I remember it the debate with Mirer vs Bledsoe. Mirer had more athletic ability and folks thought he would another Joe Montana. Bledsoe went on to be a solid Qb before Brady took his job in NE. Quinn will be fine.
