Mother of Titans star arrested and jailed

The mother of Titans running back Eddie George was arrested here last night on charges of driving under the influence and child endangerment involving her 4-year-old grandson, her son's child, a police document showed.
Donna Jean George, 50, of St. Louis, was pulled over at Union Street and Third Avenue North about 7:40 p.m. after a nearby patrol officer radioed to Officer Kirk Roncskevitz, who was directing traffic there, to stop George's dark SUV. The affidavit in the case did not give a reason for his request.
Roncskevitz had tried to direct her to turn north on Third Avenue and pull to the left, but she ''failed to respond to my repeated verbal and hand directions,'' he wrote in a criminal affidavit.
The officer stepped up to her vehicle window and repeated the directions, but she refused to comply, he wrote. Roncskevitz warned her she would be arrested if she didn't obey, and finally told her to step out of the vehicle where she was given a field sobriety test ''while the child lay asleep'' in her vehicle, he wrote.
''The subject had glassy/watery eyes, thick slurred speech and an odor of unknown alcoholic beverages on her breath,'' he wrote.
The child endangerment charge stemmed from the alleged driving under the influence while the child was unrestrained in the front seat, Roncskevitz's affidavit said.
He wrote that George was handcuffed, advised she was under arrest, then taken for booking where she was administered a breath-alcohol test, registering 0.16 ? compared to the 0.10 required for presumption of intoxication on first offense under state law.
She remained in Metro Jail last night in lieu of $10,000 total bond, officials said. The affidavit did not say who took custody of the child.
