On Friday, October 3rd, Bands of America's Eric Martin, Vice President and COO, was part of an educational panel discussion hosted by the NCAA Hall of Champions. Mr. Martin was joined by Directors from Florida A & M and Jackson State Universities, for the event. The FAMU and Jackson State Bands were in Indianapolis for the annual Circle City Classic Football Game. The presentation focused primarily on urban youth, discussing the in's and out's of being a member of a prestigious college band and the scholarship opportunities that many universities offer to band students. The audience, made up primarily of Indianapolis middle school students, were amazed at the presentations made by FAMU Percussionist Alshoun Rouse, and Jackson State Drum Major Tamara Myles. Tamara is the first female Drum Major in the history of Jackson State University. Also on the panel was Ms. Andrayana Getchell, former percussionist with the University of Nebraska "Cornhusker Marching Band" and current NCAA staffer.

Students, were toured through the "Drumline" exhibit at the NCAA Hall of Champions, allowed to interact and ask questions of the conference panel, then joined the panelists for a post-conference luncheon.

Bands of America memorabilia, including the original Grand National Championship trophy is on display in the lobby of the NCAA Hall of Champions through July as part of the "Drumline" exhibit. Look for the NCAA Hall of Champions booth at this year's Grand National Expo and when in Indianapolis, we encourage you to see the "Drumline" exhibit for yourself. after the battle of the drummers in alabama and after the honda botb, DA BOX will be considered for the prestigous honor....believe it:D
 
You all are wrong THE ALMIGHTY TOWER OF POWER IS THE BEST DRUM SECTION IN THE SWAC AND BEYOND AND WE HAVE PROVEN IT EVERY SATURDAY FOR YEARS. I DON'T CONSIDER JUMPING UP AND DOWN WITH MASK AND CAPES ENTERTAINING AT ALL (THE BOX). T.O.P. IS FUNKY, CLEAN, TECHNICAL, AND ENTERTAINING ALL IN ONE; NOW THATS THE TRUTH FROM A REAL SWAC LEGEND. THE SIZE OF A DRUMSECTION DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING BUT SOUND DOES. BESIDES ALCORN'S T.O.P. AND J-STATE'S SORRY AZZ W.T. EVERY OTHER SNARE SECTION IN THE SWAC PLAYS ON KEVLAR HEADS; HOW HARD IS THAT.
