Do you think SU's band is REALLY gonna be as good as everyone is hyping them up to b

I just asked a friend of mine that and he is giving me all kinds of random crap about how he doesn't think they are gonna be too much different. About how the numbers might be bigger, but he doesn't expect too much to be BETTER about them.

I personally think that EVERY match-up is gonna be a SU/JSU 2005 like matchup times five. And those who were there know how that went down.

Is my question understandable?

I hope SU's '06 band is as 'consistent' as the other SU bands... Will there be some changes? I'm sure there will be. But I've been reading (and hearing) all these SU cats hyping-up this year's band like it's the second coming....

I just hope their expectations aren't unrealistic...

Are they gunna be good? Yes. But are they gunna be THAT much better than before? I doubt it.....


But we'll see..

From a band standpoint, people shouldn't expect a big difference like new uniforms, designs, etc....the average fan who listens to the internet hype will expect that.

the big difference you'll see is an aggressive band coming right at you throughout the game and on the field. During Doc's twilight years, SU might've had another band on the ropes but never delivered the knockout blow at times. That will change - especially on the road.

Plus, with a new director looking to prove things to an extent it's going to intense.

We may see the 80s type of show at times when bands would go so hard at at each other where they would incorporate routines to talk about the other band on a weekly basis.

I think SU's band will be very good this year, I'm not sure about how these people are on here like everyone is just going to lay down and take it up the ***** or something, I think they will be very aggressive as stated before but I think this may also make other bands more aggressive also.

I hope it does. Since I am not in BR, whenever I venture out I wanna see some good shows. I wouldn't want all the bands to just lay down and take it. Even though some really don't have a choice in the matter...lol.

the fact that Southern is still a hot topic amongst everyone says enough..but i agree with this assesment for the most part..

It will not be the much better stuff you will see. You will just see a killer mentality from the band staff. But overall the main thing will be the excitement and energy the band will have. If you don't know Crowley (Mr. Jackson) then you will not understand. You already know the energy the Artist will bring. Mr. Knighten will continue the long tradition of discipline and hard work the Jukebox has had. So in sense, nother major but just more of a throwback in your face attitude will show up. Now you will see some new things as well. All I can say is opposing bands better be ready. They have seen a passive with nothing to prove Doc Greggs these last 10 plus years. He was not the same as he was in his younger days. These cats aint going to be playing.

I don't think bands are going to lay down. Other directors have gotten use to typical SU every year. All we are saying is that none of the other directors will know what to expect. Especially for 06. Not only that. I have said for years that a lot of the directors and assistants across the country had become lazy. You saw nothing innovative or new. That is not the fault of the band members. So I think new blood is needed at all of bands. Or change at the top. I agree it will make other bands agressive. But I am sure it will be a wait and see attitude this year. Band directors are stubborn. There will be a lot of them who will think SU aint going to do no more than than did any other year or some may think that the band will regress with out Doc at the helm.

I compare it to how Dowell Taylor took over at JSU in 84 and shook folks up. Nobody knew what to expect from the Boom and it was on. Ask us. We took a "L" in 84 from them in Baton Rouge.

As many stated... Don't eexpect ANGELS to fly out these horns..~bach~ BUt expect more power...(I know it's hard to imagine, but just wait...)

Like others said, speaking on the bands I was apart of... REAL strong powerful bands, folks left the games knowing what was up, but most times I feel and other members feel alot of these bands got OFF lightly, due to DOC's (I have nothing to prove) attitude.... But folks ain't stupid, and they got the drift.. They knew what time it was.. But this band with this new staff, will remove ALL doubt!!

In other words SU has allowed other bands to feel comfortable... (5 songs and out)...Shortening the tiem on the field help also.... But this staff which have a cat (NATE) I can honestly say was the PERFECT example of what our bands were like (96 up to now) Very dangerous and ready to bust that arse... Now it will be A LOT of built up steam ready to release...

The funny thing about all of this, MOST bands couldn't handle the SU bands that didn't let it all loose...lol

97 Alabama St. had some words with KNIGHTEN. and they saw what was being held back...trust me they went home with a new attitude....:tup:

This band will give the WHOLE SWAC something NEW to think about trust that...:tup:

No band lives up to the hype, so the Jukebox '06 will be just fine. They will bring it as they have but be more intense and unrelenting.

Based on the reviews that I have read, I am not anticipating the more refined Jukebox that I was hoping to experience. Don't expect their real identity to emerge for a couple of years.

Yes you will see new things done on the field, off the field, marching into the stadium. Yes the Jukebox will live up to the hype........We (former members of the Jukebox) can see the changes already. I've seen the drills and heard the ideas that Mr. J wanted to do but didn't because he wasn't running the show and they were all fire. With Doc at the helm of the JUKBOX I haven't seen many bands do anything that can match or come close to what we do. Mr. Jackson and Nate are definate upgrades. So if you upgrade a system that was amazing from the jump then what does that tell you?

The smart thing to do is to not say anthing and just let the horns do the talking. 'Cause ya'll know, if the people don't see a definite and GOOD difference come this fall, ya'll 'gon get dragged through the ground! :lol:

Which is SAD, because even with out change others bands should be restructuring their programs because they were far behind what SU was doing....:tup:

LOL. That's what he has been saying since he took over. He told us that at Doc's Gala in Houston this past November. I was like frat is bout to act a fool. :lmao:
