Do the right thing Duer

MH........ You and posters here have proved over the years ya'll don't care about anything except getting there. As long as the conference keep dragging dead weight along, year after year, ya'll happy.
If you have fooled yourself into thinking there is such a big difference in the top team in the SWAC and the bottom, then so be it.

Don't matter to ya'll if you look like the King of Spoiled Slaw going in.
To me, it looks like you go in looking like the team that won its tournament.

Have you fooled yourself into thinking that the top team in the SWAC would go in the tournament looking like world beaters?

I think its a great decision. One that was long overdue. I have posted for years about that. They finally heard me. LOL!

but here is the official swac statement when the announcement was originally made from swac.org.

Presidents Adopt Postseason Ban Policy

Release: 06/09/2011

June 9, 2011

Birmingham, Ala. - The SWAC Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted Thursday to adopt a league policy to prohibit any member institution subject to NCAA postseason bans to include SWAC championships and tournaments. The policy is effective

So what you're saying is by SWAC's policy if the NCAA grants a waiver than those school would be allowed to participate?

"Android" The peoples champion

It is not the correct thing to do. JSU had to sit out of the SCG, why should SU get a pass? Fair is fair.

Duhhhhhhhh They could really focus on something else besides sending in that USELESS PAPERWORK!!!!!!!! SIT THE HELL OUT!!! GEESH

All 10 teams? :lmao:
This is silly..........

It's not like this is the first time that it has been done. The Swac has had all the teams in the tourney before and other conferences do it also.

Nope....... Insane ain't it.
Teams don't even have to make the effort to get better. Just hope they can get a hot streak going at tournament time.

SWAC teams can sit back, lose all 30 regular season games, and still make the SWAC tournament.

That don't mean they will win it.

I said a swac team COULD SIT BACK.
Not only would I sit back the 1st half of the season, I would not run my starters into the ground. I would save them for a 2nd half run while everybody else is spent and burned out. And by no means would I schedule a murderers row of BIG BOY games from November thru December. I would be a cupcake playing, record padding son of a gun.

In other words, I would use the SWACs own rules to my favor. Besides, the only thing that matters in this conference is the Tournament title ---SWAC title.

How is it in their favor? They still have to win the games.

Now how many times in the SWAC tourney have we seen the 8th seed knock out the 1 seed. (if I recall correctly the 97 PV squad was the only 8th seed to win the tourney)

We were a #10 seed and was using the money ball theory before it became real...... :emlaugh::emlaugh:

How is it hurting any of y'all. If the NCAA grants it great, if not oh well.

What is the basis of requesting the waiver?

Haven't changed my mind... Didn't agree with the ban, but since it was implemented let it remain in place.

NCAA turns down UConn waiver

The University of Connecticut's request for a waiver to play in the 2012-13 postseason has been denied by the NCAA, the school said Friday.

UConn had sought a waiver to participate despite the program's Academic Progress Rate performance. Under NCAA rules, the Huskies are barred from taking part in the 2013 postseason for failing to meet the minimum APR required.

The university said it will take its case to the NCAA Committee on Academic Performance Subcommittee on Appeals.

Well so much for the waiver. I think schools who have this ban need to work on their issues before they lose their D1 status if they continue to have low apr's. Take your ban and improve or else lose your D1 status.

NCAA Denies UConn Waiver Request

By PAT EATON-ROBB, Associated Press

STORRS, Conn. (AP)— The NCAA on Friday turned down the University of Connecticut’s request for a waiver that would allow its men’s basketball team to play in the 2013 national championship tournament.

UConn doesn’t qualify for the tournament because of below-standard academic results, but it requested a waiver last month.

The school proposed alternate penalties, including playing a shorter schedule next season, forfeiting the revenue awarded to the Big East for participating in the 2013 tournament, and barring coach Jim Calhoun from meeting off-campus with prospective recruits during the fall 2012 contact period.

University President Susan Herbst said she’s disappointed by the decision of NCAA staff to reject that proposal, but said the school will appeal.

“I want to be clear that during my entire career as a scholar and a teacher, I have been in full support of high academic standards in collegiate athletics,” she said. “However, in this case, there are good students who could be penalized for the problematic behavior of students who have not been enrolled for years. Educators and parents need to do what is right for their students, and not allow them to be caught in the dynamics of public relations.”

Under rules approved in October, a school must have a two-year average score of 930 or a four-year average of 900 on the NCAA’s annual Academic Progress Rate, which measures the academic performance of student athletes.

Re: NCAA Denies UConn Waiver Request

I'm glad the NCAA wasn't hearing that nonsense UConn was spitting. The Huskies were trying to pull a 'Joe Paterno', calling their own shots hoping that'll suffice. They have a low APR, so they're banned from the post-season. That's only fair. Who cares that they're willing to go to the tourney but give-up their conference share of any revenue? Who cares if they trim next year's schedule by scratching a few 'exhibition' games?

It's about time the NCAA made some more 'examples' outta these schools.

:tup::tup:

They should've thrown the 'book' at Ohio State, Miami and USC (and a coupla others).

Re: NCAA Denies UConn Waiver Request

NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! If they start allowing exceptions to be made, then what's the point of having the rules in the first place?
