Div II what to do

I am sure there has been a thread about the SWAC becoming a D2 conference but I could not find it. What makes D1 better for us as a network of universities? What are the pros and cons of each? If ego were not a factor would it make sense to move the entire conference down.
Maybe some of you would get your football playoff. Maybe we could win a playoff game in Olympic sports more consistantly. You give me your take. You impart some knowledge on me.:ebrow:

One of the pros would be less spending due to the numbers of sport teams fielded

I agree also. That it is an option to think about. We just don't have the resources to keep up on the D-1 Level.

The MEAC and SWAC are not the only 2 D1 conferences who have these problems with resources and being able to compete for national championships.

People and their give up attitude. smh

Yep that's them.

I don't give up. We have been going at it for 30 years and is still at the bottom. Most of the teams in the Gulf Coast Conference is better funded then we are.

I know you guys love playing in blow out games to make ends meet. Being the laughing stock on ESPN Highlights and showing us being beat by 50 in basketball and football, with the big boys beating us with their third string playing most of the second half, because the first stringers had us beat halfway through the first half.

If we have the proper resources to compete at the highest level, then I am all for it.

Nope.
Gulf South member schools athletic budgets range from $500,000 for schools without football up to $3 million for schools that do. Valley has the smallest budget in the SWAC and theirs is right at $3.6 million. Delta States is right at $3 million.

We play within our own conference in football. We win one maybe two games a year in men's basketball outside of the conference playing D1. With that over the last 30 years you talk about beating a dead horse. Not that it is giving up but atleast it is an attempt to dislodge the insanity.
In a capitalistic society there always has to be entities on the bottom for there to be entities on the top. That doesn't mean the entities on the bottom always have to stay there.
