Did Stephen A. Smith cross the line?

I do understand it that does not mean I agree with it or the direction that we are moving in. I fundamentally believe people have a freedom to speak their mind. I put the Stephen A. Smith and the football player who tweeted about Sam or Donald Sterling in different categories. I believe what Sterling said was foul as hell but he was speaking in his own home on his own time. As much as I may not like what he says, he has the right to spew those opinions and it shouldn't impact his ability to own a business. The same thing with that nfl player, he tweeted something from his private account that should have had no bearing on his employment.

The only thing I can say about Stephen A. Smith's comments is that they were made on company time so he probably should face a little more scrutiny. These crocodile tears from these feminist nazi's trying to slay him though, I ain't buying them. People are far, far, far too sensitive and have gotten to the point where we are trying to regulate people's speech.

You want people to be able to say what they want without consequence or repercussion. The world doesn't and can't function that way. Everything we say or do has the potential to impact others.

You're smarter than that, son.

But when what Sterling says impacts the bottom line of the league that allowed him to own his team in the first place, it's a different story.

Everybody has guidelines to follow when it comes to speech.

I was told in HR before I started my gig that it would be wise for employees not to speak about politics on social media because of what it could create for our company.

Yeah he used the word "provoke" but anyone with sense knew he meant "don't hit anyone expecting not to be hit".

That's what everyone took him to mean.

But you have to draw inferences...if you're with someone who you think will hit you back if you hit him...then maybe both of you have a problem.

I'm glad MS has the "gone now" rule. MS stt8770...if you tell a chick "gone now" 3 times and she keeps coming you have the right to whip her ass.

Just as I was about to say he might leave ESPN Radio for Sirius XM so that he can be "unleashed"/uncensored, that move has been confirmed today.

His days on First Take are numbered. I think he will leave before he slips up again and gets fired.

SAS looked a little upside down today when I flipped on for a second. This has been blown way out of proportion.....

You can tell by the tone of the "apology" that he feels that it has been blown out of proportion. He probably knew he was suspended today so that's why he was that way.

Wow...out of all the things Stephen A. talk about ... and he gets benched for this ... damn

I heard his comments on the road back to Louisiana Friday with the wife, and we completely understood what he was saying.

Man kill that noise. People change. Sometimes do to life circumstances, and some can really hide it.

ESPN suspends Stephen A. Smith over Ray Rice domestic abuse commentary - good for ESPN (Disney) to keep it corporate culture.

People have freedom of speech, but when you work for a business you have to follow the corporate policy and guidelines. He can quit ESPN and say what ever he wants.

But he didnt say anything. He went waaaaay out of his way to be politically correct about it.
"Dont provoke a fight by physical violence against others." Whats wrong with that.

Im telling yall JayZ did men wrong by not hitting Solange. That was funny to everybody she hit kicked and
spit on that man. If he had hit her with a straight right one good time, it wouldve done wonders for domestic
violence. You cant spit on people and expect them not to beat the SHIT out of you. But since she got off
scott free we think thats the norm and its not.

This is how domestic abuse usually happens

SAS got criticized because he left his statements up for interpretation. He wasn't clear at all. He spoke about provocation. And? That could be anything. It doesn't take physicality to trigger violence against another person. All he had to say from jump is that women shouldn't hit men. But, he didn't say that. On a topic that sensitive, you have to be explicit.

He also said under no circumstance should a man ever hit a woman. Y'all keep leaving out that part.

Bill Maher Likens Hamas To A 'Crazy Woman' Who Needs To Be Slapped
The Huffington Post | By Liat Kornowski

With tensions in the Middle East running high and an Israeli invasion of Gaza underway, comedian Bill Maher has taken to Twitter to share his views on the difficult situation.

Maher tweeted Thursday night, July 17, that dealing with Hamas is like trying to deal with a crazy woman, whose wrists you can only hold for so long before having to slap her:
